One of the main reasons for using YMODEM (or XMODEM) is that just about every terminal program suports it.
So you can use any terminal program you like (provided it has YMODEM). See: !!2011-05-17 05:12 AM
the XMODEM and YMODEM specifications are available & free on the net, and it's not hard to write your own implementation.

Most serial coms libraries will include X- and/or Y-MODEM...2011-05-17 05:12 AM
I know - that is a really stupid, misleading, and unhelpfulthing that it says!
Sorry, the forum broke the link I posted earlier - try this one:https://my.st.com/public/STe2ecommunities/mcu/Lists/ARM%20CortexM3%20STM32/Flat.aspx?RootFolder=https://my.st.com/public/STe2ecommunities/mcu/Lists/ARM CortexM3 STM32/Hyperterminal is not the only terminal program!!&FolderCTID=0x01200200770978C69A1141439FE559EB459D758000626BE2B829C32145B9EB5739142DC17E¤tviews=260

Hi Andrew,
I have discovered that in the available version in ST site, it is mentioned ''To use the IAP, the user must have a PC running HyperTerminal or other Terminal program that supports ymodem protocol. In this document the HyperTerminal is used.'' :) regards, MCU Lüfter
