I have a legacy system that uses a STM32F103RE device and I would like to connect to it via JTAG (or any other on board option) and view the code on the device to verify it's version (and possibly update). It seems like the Rlink Standard programmer and free software will do the trick.

What are your expert thoughts?
ST-Link, it's cheap and has inspection utilities/tools. Works only with ST parts, or subset thereof. J-Link, it's professional, and is a commercial product that Segger supports and updates regularly. It works on a vast array of parts. U-Link, perfectly adequate, works on many parts, only works with Keil toolsUp vote any posts that you find helpful, it shows what's working..

The J-Link looks very capable and could likely be useful in other applications.
Thanks for your help.- Mark as New

Hi
If this is for personal use, Seger do an 'Educational' version of j-Link which is very cheap. It can only be used for non- commercial use!- Mark as New

I think the cheapest alternative would be ST-Link and EmBlocks.
