Well, ST seems to be really uncertain about the new crc feature. There is a new revision of the datasheet with ''crc feature removed''. :-[

It seems we have to wait for this feature a very long time ....

true! rev 6 of the datasheets is there and still the webpage shows rev 4!

they removed the CRC section but forgot to remove the CRC from Figure 8: Memory map on both datasheets.

but what's the problem though? there must be a 1000 free implementations out there. you need speed?

Yes the memory area is still in Figure 8 - I've also checked the 1 kB area while debugging, it seems to be really accessible but reads only zeros.

It's no big problem for me, I have a quite speedy implementation somewhere - I've just to dig my archives... - It just would have been nice to use it as its seems to be almost there...
