Has anyone successfully programmed the STM32F429I-DISC1 using DFU mode?

I'm currently trying to program the STM32F429I-DISC1 board in DFU mode. Right now, I'm using the USB_OTG_FS interface which uses pins PA11 (D-) and PA12 (D+). I'm connected to these pins along with 5V and ground via a spliced mini usb cable. My machine is not recognizing the device and the COM led is blinking red. I have the boot0 pin pulled to VDD and the boot1 pin (PB2) pulled to ground. I here the connecting sound when I connected it to my laptop (running windows 10), but no devices show up under ports in device manager. STM32 BOOTLOADER shows up under Universal Serial Bus devices, but I am unable to see the device using DfuSeDemo or via dfu-util in WSL. Does anyone have ideas on next steps/another approach to this problem?

For using the system DFU bootloader, read AN2606 again. USB_OTG_FS i is not handled by the system DFU bootloader!
