STM32L4S5I Discovery board ST-LINK and external peripherals?

VVest.1
Associate II

Hi, just bought B-L4S5I-IOT01A discovery kit and I have two questions regarding this.

  1. Can I use it to program external STM32L4S5 MCU? If yes, is it by using the unpopulated 4 pin ST-LINK debug -connector? Or by the CN5 tag connector and need to buy the TC2050-IDC-NL cable? If either of these then how do I spesify that I want to program the external MCU and not the one on board? Other discovery boards have jumpers for this.
  2. Is it possible to use this discovery board to develop projects which does not use peripherals found on this PCB? If so, would it be so that I'd disable the pins which are connected to the discovery board peripherals? Then just enabling the pins connected to CN1,3 & 4 and connect the peripherals I want to there?

Sorry, many questions. I'm beginner with STM and moving from other brand of MCU's..
