32F746GDISCOVERY I2C Extension Connector

Hi,

Is the I2C connector CN2 a standard pinout like PMOD, and if not are there any cables to convert it to PMOD, STEMMA or QWIC?

Hello @Glenn Andrews

CN2 connector of the STM32F746DISCOVERY is a SSM-104-L-DH:

I’m not a HW expert but you should be able to use standard connectors.

Best Regards.

As I recollect it was for an old wifi/wireless module.

I2C should also be exposed at the Arduino shield connector.

In any case just going to need SCL, SDA, GND for other connectivity.

Check schematics in CAD Resources tab for points to access different supply voltages.

Hi,

Yep, I get it's a 1/10" header, but I don't think the pin-out is PMOD, and was wondering if ST had a prefabricated cable to get the I2C working with standard quick-connect I2C systems like PMOD, STEMMA or QWIIC.

Thanks,

Glenn

I was wondering if there was a cheap prefabricated cable that went to a standard connector. I know I can buy an Arduino to QWIIC shield, but I'm equipping a class for 50 students, and a $4 cable is better than a $15 shield.

Our current development board for the class is the B-L475E-IOT01A, which has a bunch of simple I2C sensors on it, and we supplement with an Adafruit touchscreen shield. Since it's going NRND, I'm looking for something to replace it, and given the 32F746GDISCOVERY has a touchscreen it seems like a good start - except for the lack of sensors I can use to teach bringing up devices by poking I2C registers.

Maybe someone can fashion a harness/cable assembly from the 2x4 header to a QWIIC one, try SparkFun forum, or Pcbway, seems like something that could have appeal.

CZH-LABS / ELECTRONIC SALON has cheap shield PCBs

If someone can drive KiCad, you can probably submit gerbers to PCBWay to get simple boards.

I've gotten crimping kits for JST type connectors on Amazon for drone/uav boards

Hi,

CN2 was defined to support pervious small memory daughter boards of ST, so it is not compatible with PMOD or other connectors.

As CN2 is a standard 2.54mm pin patch female connector, you can use four DuPont wires (male to male) to connect 3.3V/GND/SCL/SDA to other standard connector as flying wires. I think it is easiest way to transfer the connectors.

Best Regards.
