Hello
I'm trying to make motor controller using VNH5019A-E
motor driver datasheet
https://www.st.com/content/st_com/en/search.html#q=vnh5019-t=products-page=1
I would like to ask question about fault conditions (OUT is shorted to ground or Vcc)
ENA/DIAGA and ENB/DIAGB are connected to an external pull up
PWM 20kHz
- Does it detect fault condition during stop (INA, INB=0, PWM=0) or only operating mode(CW, CCW)
- When a fault is detected, (OUTA is shorted to ground), ENA/DIAGA pin is pulled low
To clear the fault in the device, make INA from low to high
And then how do i know fault condition is removed or not?
Is there a way to know if fault condition is removed? Even in Stby mode
Thank you
Best Regards

Hi,
As you mentioned, VNH5019 can detect the fault conditions (OUT is shorted to ground or Vcc) only during operating mode (CW, CCW). If the Fault is still present at restart the device will be latched again.
To allow the Fault detection during stand-by it is needed the function "OFF state diagnostic". It is present in VIPower M07 Motor driver: VNHD7008AY or VNHD7012AY can be a good replacement for VNH5019. You can find further information and support material for M07 motor drivers @ st.com.
