I'm trying to evaluate if the L6480H stall detection actually works. We have been using the L6470H and we proved that stall detection with that chip did NOT work properly.
I bought the EVAL6480H and STEVAL-PC0009V2 boards with the hope that I could prove that stall detection worked before we put it in a new design. Alas, I cannot prove that it works. The GUI is pretty erratic. Bringing up the Registers view, the register values change by themselves, and it is not clear what is set and what is not. Stalling the motor results in no visible change to the status bits, and changing the stall detection register setting makes no noticeable change. I would have expected much more from a quality company like ST.
Anyone out there that has experience with the L6480H chip stall detection that can weigh in on this? Does it work to correctly detect when the motor is stalled?
Cheers,
Wayne
