ST7540 - Control Registry - Lose New Software on power out is possible ?

Hi, I've read and then Write the REGDATA of ST7540 and then read it again.

But if try to switch off the circuit and then switch on it again for read the registrer I lose completely the information write a few moment before. From technically stand point seems that the registry is write correctly because immediately i change the condition and i start to read it again ...

Is normal ST7540 behavior ? or the first step to do is EACH time WRITE your REGDATA with modified parameter before to start to transmit and receive ?
