General historical question about naming convention and the old ST72141K

I am trying to understand where the old ST72141K fits into the ST7 family ( eg how it relates to say ST7MCU ), and what the ST Thompson MCU chip naming convention is ( ie how to interpret all the numbers ( eg 1K, etc ).

Also, what was the relationship of Kandia and ST Thompson?
