VL53L1X: Is there only one kind of calibration (API), or there is a calibration that is made by ST for their dev. and breakout boards?

When I use the breakout board included in the dev kit, the precision is at most 2 mm, but when I use the VL53L1X soldered on one of my board, the precision is really different. Is there a particular calibration or setting that are input to the breakout board that would make it this way?

I haven't tried this chip, but looking at the datasheet for you.

I would say that you have prototype issues. or external lense/cover problems

The part's " Level " on the circuit board should be as close to 0degrees in all directions, on every board. <- this is a product requirement, as a guess.

did you hand solder the part ? did you use a rework station? with hot air ?

remove the part, clean off all flux,

use "lead" solder on prototypes.

remove most of the solder on the pads, make sure the pad solder height is the same on all pads

add some fresh flux, hot air reflow a new device without touching the lense.

Do not over-heat the device.

Thank you for your response! We will check the 0 degree part.

The soldering part wasn't done manually initially, but some rework had to be done. Maybe the device overheated.

The next step is to test with a new VL53L1X on the same breakout board.
