LSM6DS3 FIFO usage when in 'Mode 1'/Slave-only

For the &sharpLSM6DS3 - is it possible to use the &sharpFIFO also when the LSM6DS3 is in 'Mode 1'/Slave-only mode to buffer values of other sensor on the I2C bus? Or can the FIFO only be used when the LSM6DS3 is the I2C master?
