10x10 Multizone Ranging on VL53L1 GUI not working

kunf

Hi,

I have an X-NUCLEO-53L1A2 and a NODE_F401RE.

The VL53L1.exe GUI is unstable and frequently freezes, but I could at least perform most of my experimental measurements (including MultiZone Ranging 4x4).

However, when using MultiZone 10x10 Ranging, the GUI constantly crashes. During calibration, the following message appears:

Is this a known issue? What could be the problem?

What do I have to do to be able to use the devkit?

Thank you very much for your support

Regards

Stefan

Neither the crashing nor the errors are known issues.

Are you using a satellite board and a particularly long cable? I2C does have errors with long cables. It's all I can think of.

You should not need anything other than the devkit. The software is free on ST.com, but it looks like you downloaded it. There are also APIs with working examples. Might try running the examples.

I just tried the GUI. And it works for me. (I know, I hate that too.)

I used a 10x10 as in:

But notice that "Use FullROI X-talk calibration" - that's interesting. That message does NOT pop up unless you reduce the RoI, so someone thought about it.

Is that what you used?

I'm thinking for the larger RoI's the difference in calibration between partial and full is so subtle it wouldn't matter.

Hello John,

Thank you for your efforts.

I noticed that you performed the calibration for the ranging mode. For me, the calibration also worked well in that mode. However, I’m referring to the MultiZone Scanning feature.

I’m using the following software:
