What is the extra current consumption when the MLC is used, and what would be current consumption of a similar algorithm not running on the sensor?

MLC extra current consumption is in the order of microAmpere (few uA, or few tens of uA depending on the configuration). 

Comparing this extra current consumption with the current consumption required by a complete software solution (also including communication, etc..), it is possible to save from 10 to 1000 times the amount of power.
