Posted on May 23, 2014 at 00:29Hi, I just spent a couple of days integrating STemWin in a starter project and got that to work rather nicely. Now I am toying around with it so see if it can do all the things I need for my display project. In the process I noticed a vertical black line on the display that appears to be an artifact of the drawing algorithm (GUI_AA_DrawArc()). I am using black background and white foreground. It looks like a single pixel line and shows only in the upper half of the display, the lower half is fine. That would be at 90 degrees for the arc. Here is the drawing code: -----GUI_AA_SetFactor (3); GUI_AA_EnableHiRes (); GUI_SetPenSize (5); GUI_AA_DrawArc (360, 360, 344, 0, 10, 350); GUI_SetPenSize (40); GUI_AA_DrawArc (360, 360, 260, 0, 210, 330); GUI_RECT clip = {80, 10, 160, 150}; GUI_SetClipRect (&clip); GUI_AA_DrawArc (360, 360, 260, 0, 40, 150); GUI_SetClipRect (NULL); ----- The artifact shows up in both the first and the third arc (the one in the
Posted on July 06, 2014 at 08:57Hi,All the sample projects (involving STemWin library) provided by ST do not use the ''GUI_TOUCH_Exec()'' to update the pointer position, only ''GUI_TOUCH_StoreStateEx()'' is used instead. However, as mentioned in the emWin manual, ''GUI_TOUCH_Exec()'' must be called consistently (every 10ms) for measuring the touch screen and updating the pointer position (through implementing GUI_TOUCH_X_MeasureX() + GUI_TOUCH_X_MeasureY()).I understand that ST's project has made the measurement separately in BSP_Pointer_Update() but my question is, why the GUI_TOUCH_Exec() is not being used at all? Is it safe to code this way?Thank you. #stemwin #touch #emwin
Posted on December 01, 2013 at 11:20Hi All!I just bought an STM32F429I-DISCO eval board because of the LCD screen, and wanted to use it with a Camera on the DCMI interface. I found out that there is conflict in the pin-out, e.g. LCD_VSYNC and DCMI_HSYNC. I hope there is a way to use them sequentially, like read data from DCMI and after that put the image on the LCD. I'm looking for advice or a possibility to use them.Thank you for your answer! #stm32f429 #lcd #discovery #dcmi

Posted on April 03, 2014 at 14:41Hi. Help is needed for Alpha channel input (CM_A4 an CM_A8) in combination with the HAL_DMA2D_BlendingStart(...) of the CubeMX HAL. It seems like FGCOLR is not set neither with the call nor with Dma2dHandle.LayerCfg. Furthermore the entire blending process is not clear to me. How to select / unselect the foreground layer, background layer and background color. What is needed for a simple CM_A4 + Color -> RGB transformation. A code snippet or similar would be great. Thanks in advance. #chrom-art-stm32cubemx-dma2d #hal #stm32cubef4 #dma2d

Posted on May 15, 2014 at 13:27Hello Forum, I do have a STM32F205VE device 100Pin Package to which i connected a Camera as to the DCMI Interface. From the DCMI Status register i can tell, that HSYNC and VSYNC are detected. However, nothing is captured. The PXCLK (Pixelclock) is routed to PA6 (AF=DCMI PXCLK). Somewhere in the datasheet i now red that DCMI is not supported on STMF205 devices. Is that true? It seems that PA6 (Pixelclock) is not reaching the DCMI module allthough present on the Pin. Thanks. #stm32f205-dcmi
Posted on May 12, 2014 at 22:12I'm implementing the touch screen calibration screens that are found in the demo project in my project on the STM32F439-EVAL platform. I'm having some trouble drawing screens in the window manager callback and I'm not sure what the problem is. I am able to run the opening animation found the demo project ( the ST Logo with the moving circle ). This is run to completion before anything else proceeds. I then create a GUI thread which just calls GUIExec every 30ms ( I didn't load any default GUI profiles ). I then implemented a the Calibration screen using a callback and a function which invalidates the window. The idea being that a controller will invalidate the window via the function, causing the callback to be called in the GUIThread resulting in the redraw.I can see the Callback being called and the draw commands executing. I even see the screen flash like its being updated. But the image on the display is not updated. Can anyone provide me
Posted on April 28, 2014 at 18:49Hi there, i'm trying to use stemwin with double buffering on a STM32F429. Unfortunately there seem to be glitches when drawing. Stemwin is configured with the correct frame buffer address and the mechanism of switching the buffer seems correct. First the front buffer is copied to the back buffer and then the buffers are switched (Frame buffer start address is changed in the display controller). At that point of switching the buffers, some glitches occur. They appear over the whole screen, which looks different from tearing effects. It looks like stemwin tries to draw in the active front buffer, which is forbidden. Has anyone encountered a similar problem and can help me? Thanks! #stemwin #stm32f429i

Posted on April 14, 2014 at 23:08I've been working with the STM3240G_EVAL board's onboard camera and the Camera_To_USBDisk sample application. This application normally displays and records images at 320x200 (the resolution of the onboard LCD); I wanted to grab and record images at VGA (640x480) resolution without bothering to display on the LCD. This is within the camera module's specs and the size of the external SRAM on the eval board, so it should be possible. Moreover, the library driver ov2640.c has config settings for VGA resolution, so someone has done at least some work on that. Naturally, the task required significantly refactoring of the code in main.c to optimize memory usage (in this case, at the expense of processing time, which is fine for me). I've successfully operated the modified program at 320x200, and have generated and verified fixed-pattern test images at 320x200 and 640x400, proving out the correctness of the data pipeline *after* the camera. (The BMP headers w
Posted on April 15, 2014 at 16:02I have a display that does not include HSYNC or VSYNC, only a pixel clock. It is my understanding that I can only use the FMC interface (the old FSMC) and not the LCD TFT embedded controller (I have a STM32F429). Is this correct? I just started investigating this, but any pointers in the meantime are greatly appreciated. I'd like to use the LCD TFT embedded controller with the display I already have instead of looking at a new display. #lcd #stm32
Posted on April 08, 2014 at 20:29We are trying to put an embedded device which can drive a 4.3'' LCD with a capacitive touch overlay. Looking at the STM32F439 discovery platform, I see there is a 5.7'' LCD with a capacitive touch overlay. We would like to use this platform and be able to swap in a 4.3'' LCD. Eventually, we would like our production platform to be built based on this eval board and so I looked through the schematics and the BOM, however there is no mention of the touch controller used. I see references to a touch controller but no controller specifically. How is capacitive touch implemented on the STM32F439 discovery evaluation board. ThanksKartik #stm32f439 #stm-touch
Posted on April 03, 2014 at 11:27Hello Friends. I want to connect the camera to the STM32F429 Discovery. I need to use DCMI module but I can't use with LTDC hardware. Posted on March 31, 2014 at 17:47I have a project, developed by Segger, for the STM32F429i-Disco board. I have the project working, and wanted to replace the trial emWin files that Segger uses with the STemWin files ST provides. When I swap out the Segger binary library with the STemWin binary library, the micro goes into the GUI_Init function, and never comes out. Anyone out there run into this? Any recommendations on how to understand what it is that's creating this situation? All insight appreciated. #stemwin #stm32f429i-discovery

Posted on March 04, 2014 at 23:02Hello I'm running the RTos Demo for STM324xG eval and have a lot of trouble with Interrupts. For example transfer via Uart is broken. Pieces are missing. I force it in a loop when transfer starts, thats works but isn't the sense of running a RTos system. Could someone says something about Priority settings used by STemWin? Or has someone a working Uart sample to receive and send witch is tested with STemWin and FreeRtos? Thanks in advance Joerg #stemwin-freertos-priority

Posted on November 28, 2013 at 04:42Hello, this is my first post, i'm new to the community. As part of my thesis i developed an object tracking system with an STM32F103vct microcontroller to demonstrate the capabilities of it and the potential to make embedded vision systems that can be even more useful than a whole computer running Opencv (or etc) in particular cases where dimensions and energy constraints wont make possible to have a computer running, like in UAV's, self driving vehicles, autonomous robots or even cubesat-space applications . I must say STM32 micro controllers are outstanding and a lot of great stuff can be made, please check the video below and i would be glad to answer your questions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwHzUILiGmA #artificial-vision #lcd #camera
Posted on February 14, 2014 at 04:00It appears as though the TFT Displays VSYNC signal (pa4) is in use in RGB-mode, and as a result, I can't set it to function as AFIO DAC&sharp1 output (pa4), as it seems to cause the display to turn all white. DAC&sharp2 output (pa5) works ok, but I was hoping to get a stereo output using both DAC pins. Can the TFT be set to run in MCU-mode, or any other mode that does not require a VSYNC signal? #dac #tft #discovery-stm32f429
Posted on February 11, 2014 at 12:05Hi I am working with stm32f4 DCMI and SDIO interface. Both peripherals are connected to DMA2. I need to store data taken (from DCMI) by DMA2 to SDIO. I have set the following configurations. DMA_InitStructure.DMA_PeripheralBaseAddr = (uint32_t)(DCMI_BASE + DCMI->DR); // Source Address 1st locationDMA_InitStructure.DMA_Memory0BaseAddr = (uint32_t) (SDIO->FIFO); // Destination address 1st locationDMA_InitStructure.DMA_DIR = DMA_DIR_MemoryToMemory; // DCMI FIFO (4 words) to SDIO FIFO (32 words)DCMI DMA is configured in ping pong mode. DCMI FIFO is only 4 words deep where as SDIO FIFO is 32 words deep. I also want to configure SDIO Fifo in ping pong mode. This has created confusion for me and after a lot of browsing I am still confused. Does any body have an idea how I achieve this? i.e. Data from DCMI to SDIO using DMA2. Posted on December 02, 2013 at 16:14Hi,Out of curiosity, what is the different between non-OS and OS version of STemWin library? As far as described in emWin's user manual, the library should be working under RTOS environment by default (with appropriate configurations). Question is, why the need of splitting into two separate libraries?Thank you. #freertos #rtos #stemwin #enwin
