HiI am designing a small circular PCB with the following specifications. Due to size limitations, the antenna cannot exceed 9mm, which prevents me from achieving the recommended 4.8µH of inductance. Is it acceptable to compensate for this by increasing the matching capacitance?Additionally, I have two other questions:1. what is the recommended spacing for an NFC antenna from the edge of the PCB?2. Also, which formula do you use to calculate the inductance Circular or spiral () since I get two different results. Please let me know if you need additional information.Thank you  (mm)PCB Radios10.5N Turns3Space from Edge0.5Track Width0.28Spacing0.13First 9.86Second9.45Third9.04Spiral L0.35uHCircular L76nH

Hello,I have an issue with the CAN bus on STM32F042G6 µC. For the moment I just want to receive Frames from an other controller (STM32G0B1) and it doesn't work at all.I am using PA11 as Rx Pin and PA12 as Tx Pin Pins.Here is the configuration part with a 12MHz external clock :static void MX_CAN_Init(void) { /* USER CODE BEGIN CAN_Init 0 */ /* USER CODE END CAN_Init 0 */ /* USER CODE BEGIN CAN_Init 1 */ /* USER CODE END CAN_Init 1 */ hcan.Instance = CAN; hcan.Init.Prescaler = 16; hcan.Init.Mode = CAN_MODE_NORMAL; hcan.Init.SyncJumpWidth = CAN_SJW_1TQ; hcan.Init.TimeSeg1 = CAN_BS1_1TQ; hcan.Init.TimeSeg2 = CAN_BS2_1TQ; hcan.Init.TimeTriggeredMode = DISABLE; hcan.Init.AutoBusOff = DISABLE; hcan.Init.AutoWakeUp = DISABLE; hcan.Init.AutoRetransmission = DISABLE; hcan.Init.ReceiveFifoLocked = DISABLE; hcan.Init.TransmitFifoPriority = DISABLE; if (HAL_CAN_Init(&hcan) != HAL_OK) { Error_Handler(); } /* USER CODE BEGIN CAN_Init 2 */ /* USER CODE END CAN_Init 2

Dear ST Community.I am designing devices with STM32WL microcontrollers with highly limited board space. I routed out traces for all SWD signals (VDD, GND, NRST, SWDIO, SWCLK)I have my Prototype Board, original ST-Link V2 with V2J45S7 Firmware and STM32CubeProgrammer version v2.20.0. During testing I realized that the connection to Prototype is stable only when I connect all 5 signals. For some reason I thought that "VDD_Target" pin on ST-Link side can be left floating.I have found a previous post:https://community.st.com/t5/stm32-mcus-boards-and-hardware/how-to-connect-the-stlink-v2-to-my-board/m-p/94389but unfortunately in my case I have to have "VDD_Target" signal connected on both ends. When disconnected STMCubeProgrammer responds with error shown below:Do I need to have all SWD signals being connected in order to program my Prototype or is there any hidden option in ST-Link/STMCubeProgrammer that I can turn on, so in final design I can omit routing VDD pin for SWD connector?Kind re

I am writing some firmware for a device with an alpha-numeric display. The display language must be changable. For most languages, this means using characters outside the A-Z range. UTF-8 covers most of the necessary characters.In the project properties, I found this setting, and naively thought that the UTF-8 selection included the actual compiler:Well, obviously not, as it is GCC that needs to know that the character set is to be UTF-8. The codesprintf(pString, "Français");is translated tosprintf(pString, "Français"); (It might not be super-visible, but the ç in Français is a c with a cedilla, which has the UTF-8 code 0xE7.)I tried using the flags -finput-charset=utf-8 and -fexec-charset=utf-8 in an attempt to tweak GCC to use UTF-8 for strings and characters, but that didn't make a difference. Also, I have a hunch that these flags only work for C++, but I'm not sure.Is what I'm trying to do even possible?I do have the option to replace ç with \xE7, but with

Hello,I would like to use the TFM application on STM32CubeIDE for the B-U585I-IOT02A board but I can't find the application anywhere. Any help?

Hi there ! I hope someone can help me with a confusion i had in my mind right now. I work with a EEPROM 24C256 and need a write a lot of data inside , soo i decide to use the page write solution . So from the datasheet i saw i can write 64byte in one shot. and here i have a doubt. if i start from the address 0x00 i know i can write until 0x3F.But if i start to write from 0x10 i can write until 0x3F right of course not 64Byte but 48Bytes is it right ?    Thank you  Sergio

I guess I have found a Bug in the G473RC debug launch script:I have a STM32G473RC MCU with 128k RAM and 256k Flash.As long as the Flash File stays below the size of 128k all works fine. I can develop, test and debug with CubeIDE. As soon as the flash file becomes larger than 128k, I can no longer debug the Software, because the Launch of the debugger exits with an error message:error dialogThe complete output in the console is:STMicroelectronics ST-LINK GDB server. I'm using the STM32G474RE with STM32CubeIDE - Version: 1.19.0, and I encountered a strange issue. I'm not sure whether to call it an error, as it doesn't technically throw any errors—but it's unusual.When I create a new project and open the .ioc configuration, the NVIC section (which usually shows 7-8 entries for code generation) is completely empty. This behavior seems abnormal, and I'm unsure what's causing it.Could someone please help me understand what's going on or how to resolve this?

I’m using an STM32 board to drive an SSD1322 128×64 OLED display with my own driver library. It used to work fine without issues. Without changing the code, the display suddenly became completely unresponsive. - Power supply shows 0A current draw (normally it used to pull around ~0.3A).- During debug, I noticed something strange: inside MX_GPIO_Init() the code enters, but it hangs atGPIO_InitStruct.Speed = GPIO_SPEED_FREQ_LOW; and never progresses beyond that line.I double-checked all hardware connections multiple times, nothing seems wrong.When I swapped to another STM32 board of the same model, everything worked again without any changes.This makes me suspect a hardware fault on the original board (possibly ESD damage). My questions:- What should I pay special attention to when debugging this kind of issue?- How can I pinpoint the exact root cause (e.g., RAM/stack corruption, HardFault analysis, hardware measurements)?- What’s the recommended way to solve this and prev

Hi,I tried to bring up the USB host on the USB-A connector, but without success.As a starting point, I took the example project:STM32CubeN6\Projects\STM32N6570-DK\Applications\USBX\Ux_Host_DualClass (for the USB Type-C connector), replaced USB1 with USB2 throughout the code, and enabled the USB power switch via GPIO.The device receives 5V, but no USB2 interrupt is triggered.Below is my USB2 initialization. In line 18, I triedRCC_USBPHY2REFCLKSOURCE_HSE_DIRECT, and RCC_USBOTGHS2CLKSOURCE_HSE_DIRECT,but neither case works.It seems I’m missing something else. Hello,I am currently working with the STM32N6570-DK and am studying several official example projects from ST's GitHub repositories. The projects I'm looking at are:ObjectDetection: https://github.com/STMicroelectronics/STM32N6-GettingStarted-ObjectDetection/tree/mainPeople Detection and Tracking: https://github.com/STMicroelectronics/x-cube-n6-ai-people-detection-trackingHand Landmarks: https://github.com/STMicroelectronics/x-cube-n6-ai-hand-landmarks/tree/mainI've noticed that the Binary/ai_fsbl.hex file is identical across all these projects, yet I cannot find any documentation or instructions on how to build this specific FSBL file from the source code.My main question is: How can I build this ai_fsbl.hex file myself?I've searched through the project folders but couldn't find a dedicated FSBL project. The only file I suspect might be related is ../../STM32Cube_FW_N6/Drivers/CMSIS/Device/ST/STM32N6xx/Source/Templates/system_stm32n6xx_fsbl.c, which is included in the main project's M

Hello, I am working on an STM32F446RE with a custom bootloader and FreeRTOS application. Bootloader address: 0x08000000 Application address: 0x0800C000 The bootloader successfully jumps to the application by setting MSP, PC, and SCB->VTOR. In my application, I configured FreeRTOS to use a hardware timer (TIM14) instead of SysTick as the OS tick source. Problem:When I flash the application directly, it runs fine.But when I run through the bootloader, the application stops working as soon as it calls HAL_Delay(). If I comment out HAL_Delay(), the app continues normally. After the RTOS kernel starts, I get a HardFault on the first interrupt. I suspect this is related to SysTick still being dirty from the bootloader, while my application is configured to use TIMx as the tick source. My questions: What is the recommended way to cleanly reinitialize the HAL tick and interrupt system after jumping from a bootloader to an application that uses TIMx instead of SysTick? Should I

ST moderator: Thread moved from "STM32CubeIDE" forum to "STM32 MCUs Embedded software" forum. Hello, I am currently working on STM32H755 (dual-core M7/M4) and trying to use the FMC interface to connect to an external SRAM. I have checked the STM32CubeH7 firmware package, but I could not find any ready-made FMC SRAM example for STM32H755 (most examples for STM32H745). I have checked the STM32CubeH7 firmware package,and it seems that for STM32H745 (and STM32H755) there is only an FMC SDRAM example available,located under: STM32CubeH7\Projects\STM32H745I-DISCO\Examples\FMC\FMC_SDRAM_DataMemory Could you please provide: An official or working example project for STM32H755 FMC SRAM Clarification about which core (M7 or M4) should configure the FMC? Best regards,Allen

The ASM330LHH datasheet CTRL3_C (12h) says:Note: The accelerometer must be ON. This bit is cleared automatically. This bit is cleared automatically. Does ON for the accelerometer mean that ODR_XL[3:0] in the CTRL1_XL (10h) register is set to a non-zero value?

I have a question, when I jump from the bootloader to application code from internal flash, I didn't have to disable the interrupt and re-enable them in application, however when I do using the external flash I have first disable then re-enable the interrupt in the application code, otherwise the code just get stuck inside the HAL_InitTick() if i do not disable interrupt in bootloader. It is only that I re-enable the interrupt after SystemClock_Config() function in the application code that my code start working properly as I disable the interrupt from bootloader.  I'm a bit confused why is this the behaviour even though the jumping function is same with the only reason of disabling interrupt in the case of external flash with the reason mentioned above ?

Can the STM32WB55 use external SRAM, or can it only use external  PSRAM?If external RAM can be used, can it also be used to execute code and run tasks?

Hi,  When I clear the EXTSEL bits in the ADC1 CFGR1 register, my resolution bits also get cleared ?. My ADC randomly changes resolution. Below is screenshots of the code.  Why does this happen ?, I can disable the ADC to write the RES bits to what they were. Don't really want to do that unless I have to.

Hi,We've successfully implemented the use of external RAM connected via the OCTOSPI1 interface on the B-U585I-IOT02A board, using the example code provided in the CubeMX packages for read/write operations. Everything works as expected under normal conditions.However, things get complicated when we introduce Stop2 mode. Upon exiting Stop2, the system enters the HardFault handler, suggesting a fault likely triggered during or immediately after wake-up.According to the datasheet, the OCTOSPI interface is frozen during low-power modes, and its register values are preserved. Based on this, I assumed that reconfiguring the clocks after exiting Stop2 would be sufficient—but apparently, it's not.Has anyone successfully implemented external RAM access with Stop2 mode? Are there additional steps or configurations required before entering or after exiting Stop2 ?Note : the issue happens only out of the debug mode (when the debug probe is not used) !Thanks in advance for any insights!

I was looking around to see if it was possible to drive the backlight of the display directly in TouchGFX code without having to pass the information to the backend to toggle it.I'm currently turning off/on the backlight with case CMD_BL_SET_HIGH: HAL_GPIO_WritePin(LCD_BL_ENABLE_GPIO_Port, LCD_BL_ENABLE_Pin, GPIO_PIN_SET); break; case CMD_BL_SET_LOW: HAL_GPIO_WritePin(LCD_BL_ENABLE_GPIO_Port, LCD_BL_ENABLE_Pin, GPIO_PIN_RESET); break;What I would like to do is to:Turn off the backlight (go into "standby mode")If in "standby mode" (it will always be in a certain view when "standby mode" is ON, when a new touch on the display is detected, turns the backlight ONIt seems it could be achieved with TouchGFX Touch Controller, but I'm not sureMy current approach is to have a message with a queue to another task running that triggers the HAL_GPIO_WritePinAny idea?
