STM8S001J3 - not able to debug with STVP using STLinkv2 Debugger!

Hello,

I tried to program STM8S001J3 using STLinkv2 Debugger and ST Visual Programmer (STVP).

As the STM8S001J3 MCU had no RESET pin, I left RESET pin of ST Linkv2 unconnected and just connected 3 lines of ST Linkv2 (VDD, GND, SWIM) with corresponding pins of the MCU.

However, when I clicked the programming tab (the red arrow one) in STVP, the message that it could not communicate with the device popped up as shown in attached file.

It still didn't work when I opened '3op16icp.s19' and then programmed.

I had to use I2C, USART, and SWIM so on my PCB I connected USART_TX and SWIM on the same 8 pin, because I found out that if I give time delay before converting 8 pin into USART_TX I can still access it to SWIM pin beforehand.

I worried that if unconnected reset pin might cause problem so I tried it to connect whether ground or VCC, but it still didn't work.

Can you tell me what the problem is with my chip?

Thanks
