Use the M24LR as an ''active tag''

Hello,

I have a question about your M24LR products.

I know the product has been designed as a passive tag,

For RFID communication the power come from the reader and when we want to communicate via I2C we have to power the tag via 2 power pins (VCC and VSS).

My question is :  if I power the tag myself (via VCC and VSS) and then  try to communicate via RFID. Is it going to change the read range or not ? What energy source's the tag is going to use ?

I didn't see anything about that in the data-sheet. Do you have any idea if the range will be improved ?

Hello,

Thanks for your interest in our product

If you power the tag, the read range might be a little improved (with high power reader, big antenna...)

And depending of the reader, you might not see a big difference.

And like  you power the tag, the digital part will be powered earlier.
