I have a new design with VNQ5050AK. Controlled by an MCU via 2k2 resistors. 3 of channels are open, there is no load currently. One of channels has a small relay with a clamp diode. Supply voltage is 25V, I use laboratory supply with 2A limit, there is no large capacitor which can provide high current. Unfortunately, the driver burns out after a few switch. Result: short between supply and GND in chip. Note: now, I implemented a new self test, it switches all outputs on shortly. This problem has appeared since this new self test was implemented. And also, I use same device for a motor with 6A continuous current and PWM control in a H bridge configuration (strongly inductive load), and there is no any problem.
Is it possible that a short switch without load can damages this device? I cannot see any limitation in the data sheet about it.
