Question from Predictive Maintenance Webinar 29th of April: The vibration sensor power consumption is close to 1mA . For battery operated applications it is relatively high consumption. Is there any system level recommendation ST gives to save the battery

In the typical condition monitoring application the monitoring system is not running permanently, there are applications where you switch on the monitoring for example only once per day or week only shortly and so the vibration sensor power consumption is not critical. Another recommendation we give specifically for battery operated nodes is that you can use in your system an additional low power accelerometer, for example IIS2DLPC from ST with consumption even below 1uA when it runs in the wake up mode with interrupt to MCU enabled. This low power accelerometer can detect, that your mechanical system is active and as result you can activate your in standby MCU and then from the MCU you can enable the vibration sensor measurement.
