1. Are there evaluation kits for ST1VAFE3BX and ST1VAFE6AX?

ST1VAFE3BX and ST1VAFE6AX are available in three different kits to allow the evaluation with different type of electrodes.
  • STEVAL-MKI242A is a board for evaluating the 6-axis biosensor, ST1VAFE6AX, connecting a 3.5 mm jack for the electrodes.
  • STEVAL-MKI249KA is another evaluation kit for the 6-axis biosensor, ST1VAFE6AX, which includes an electrode board (without jack in this case).
  • The last kit instead, called STEVAL-MKI250KA, contains the 3-axis biosensor ST1VAFE3BX, the jack connector, and the electrode board. You can choose what kind of electrodes you want to use depending on the application.
All these adapter boards can be mounted on top of the professional MEMS tool board, called STEVAL-MKI109D. This board can be connected to the PC through a USB Type-C® cable.
You can start evaluating the biosensors using the software MEMS-Studio, as described inside the knowledge article Getting started with ST's biosensors ST1VAFE3BX and ST1VAFE6AX.

2. What is the BioVSM library?

The BioVSM is a middleware library component of the X-CUBE-MEMS1 software and runs on STM32.

The library acquires data from the biosensor and provides real-time information about vital signs monitoring. Examples such as ECG signal and parameters related to the heart rate and the heart rate variability of the user.

This library is intended to work with the ST1VAFE6AX and ST1VAFE3BX biosensors only. More info is available inside UM3471.

3. Do you have any code example to develop a driver for ST1VAFE3BX and ST1VAFE6AX?

You can find platform independent drivers for ST1VAFE3BX and ST1VAFE6AX on our GitHub repository called STMems_Standard_C_drivers.

4. Where can I find more details about the reference design based on the ST1VAFE6AX and ST1VAFE3BX biosensors for an electronic skin patch used in cardio monitoring?

You can find more info about the reference design inside the technical note TN1571.
