aci_gatt_update_char_value returns 0x47 after connection with a BLE client device

After initializing the BLE stack as indicated in the X-CUBE-BLE expansion, the BlueNRG-MS module starts advertising correctly. Once a connection is established with a BLE client device(smartphone), the aci_gatt_update_char_value command called to update GATT characteristic values always returns BLE_STATUS_ERROR(0x47). The initial call to aci_gatt_update_char_value method to update the device name runs properly with no errors. I'm not able to see the available GATT services on the client side. Has anyone experienced any similar issues?
