TESEO-VIC3D as a replacement

peternpcb

We would like to use the TESEO-VIC3D GNSS receiver as a replacement part without modifying the design.
Could you please confirm or comment if the following hardware connections are acceptable for this module?

  • Pin #1 (WakeUP): Pulled-up to VCC
  • Pin #4 (WHEELTICK): Not connected (floating)
  • Pin #7 (Reserved): Connected to GND
  • Pin #15 (FWD): Not connected (floating)

Thank you very much for any help in advance.

Hi,

It should be fine when connected to GND. This pin is not connected even inside the module.

Hi,

Please refer to VIC3DA Hardware Manual - UM2832- located at this link.

VIC3DA Documentation

The hardware manual will provide you the pin guidelines.

In addition to the hardware manual you will find software manual  - UM2791 that will show the commands and control interface detailing all NMEA message sent out by the module and how to configure the module.

Regarding specific pins.

Pin 1 - Wakeup - leave floating

Pin 4 - Wheeltick - floating

Pin 7 - Reserved NC/floating

Pin 15 - FWD - Leave it floating if not going into standby. If going to standby you can connect 10k pull-up or pull-down

Thank you for your reply.
Do you have any insight information about the Reserved pins? Based on your feedback our current design should only violate the connection of the Pin #7 because we have that pin directly connected to GND instead of having it floating. Do you know if that signal is really not connected internally, so our direct GND connection won't cause any issues?
