Posted on November 05, 2013 at 17:50 Hi, I've recently been playing with a Keil MCBSTM32F200 board, specifically using the camera module. Essentially, I'm trying to use DMA2 to route the camera data to an arbitrary location in the SRAM instead of directly to the LCD memory. In order to do image processing before finally displaying the image. I can 'DMA' from camera to LCD address fine, but when I start sending it to say '0x20000000' (valid location in SRAM), it is only sending the first 'pixel' of data. Do I need to manually increment the destination address? I'm not sure if this happens automatically because when I set the LCD address as the destination and view the memory map, all the pixel values appear to be copied across. Here is my DMA & DCMI setup code: /* Configure DCMI peripheral */ DCMI->CR &= ~(DCMI_CR_ENABLE | DCMI_CR_CAPTURE); DCMI->CR = DCMI_CR_PCKPOL | /* Rising polarity */ DCMI_CR_VSPOL; /* VS Polarity high */ /* HS Polarity low */ /* C
Posted on October 13, 2013 at 19:50Hi :) As usual 'Murphy law' i get little problem .... I have connect 3 different USB Stick on 3 Different F429 Disco Board though the microSD connector with no results. I then tried with a USB connector directly connected to the USB dedicated pins with the same no results :( Is it something special to do to made it work ?? From the docs i doesn't see anything special to do for the micro usb port , i have think it will be functional directly with the provided demo ... I formatted them in fat16 and fat32 for be sure and they are 1,2 and 4Gb. Cheers. #discovery #stm32f429 #lcd-tft
Posted on January 23, 2012 at 21:09Hi, I'm new to STM32 and also to interfacing with Digital camera modules.as a First step I went trough the DCMI example that boards with the STM32F2xx Library. although in the example firmware that came with the Eval board the camera seems to work fine, but simply running the DCMI example gives no result to the LCD, even though the code runs with no error.I am using IAR EWARM to build and deploy the code to the board.Do I have to make any change in the code to make it work?Thanks in advance #stm3220g-eval #smt3220g #dcmi #dcmi

Posted on July 24, 2013 at 07:54From the ST website, I came to know about new additions to the STM32F4 family. These are STM32F429/439 series MCUs. Their data brief tells that they have LCD-TFT controller and Chrom-ART Accelerator. These are highly valuable features for my project which is in initial Design phase.My problems are: The STM32F4 reference manual should now have details of the above mentioned peripherals, just like it details all other peripherals. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case.Is there any development board featuring one of these new exciting micros? Is any board coming soon? (Preferably a low cost one like Discovery boards)Leading suppliers like farnell and digikey don't have any parts of this series in their listing. Are these parts selling in market? if no, when they are expected?Any help regarding these problems will be appreciated.Thanks in anticipation. #stm32f429 #lcd-tft #discovery
Posted on September 19, 2013 at 22:05I am trying to develop a board that would use the STM32F407VGT6. I want to use the discovery board to mock it up. I am wondering if anyone knows if I can map 2 cameras and an SD card to the board. I only plan on using one camera at a time interfacing with the SD card I just noticed on the pin out for this particular chip it looked like it may be near impossible could some one give me some feed back as to away I am maybe over looking. As of now my idea was to flip form the alternate functions for of one set of pins that interface with the DCMI another for the cameras. Then Have the SDIO mapped to another set. But so far that looks bleak. Thanks #dcmi-stm32f4-sicovery-camera
Posted on September 12, 2013 at 11:06 Hi, I recently bought the STM32F4DIS-LCD manufactured by Embest, I have wired the TFT and touchscreen components to my discovery board directly (as I have no need for the base board), using these schematics and pin outs: http://www.elementcom/community/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadBody/51693-102-2-272413/STM32F4DIS-BB-STM32F4DIS-CAM-STM32F4DIS-LCD-Schematic%2020130zip Schematic: I'm having trouble getting the touchscreen aspect of the touchscreen calibration example (provided by STM) to work. When I look at the registers for the I2C bus the DR is always 0?! I haven't used any capacitors or any of the 22R resistors when wiring the TFT to the discovery board, but I have tried including the 4.7K resistor between pins 5 and 8 with no success. Please could someone point in the right direction to getting this to work? Cheers, Marc. stm32 lcd discovery tft
Posted on July 23, 2012 at 02:15 Hi, I am now trying to integrate my STM32Discovery board with OV7670 camera module without using any external ram from LCD. However I found a problem and I cannot get any data. I have tested it in many ways from counting the number of HCLK line per VSYNC to see the camera-output signal from my oscilloscope. I found the problem that everytime I enable camera-capture ( DCMI_CaptureCmd(Enable) ) It always generate overflow interrupt ( DCMI_GetFlagStatus(DCMI_FLAG_OVFRI) == SET). I suspect that my DMA procedure is incorrect. Could someone help me to trace my code to find errors? Note: I set my OV7670 output resolution to 320x240 QVGA. First i declare memory to store the data from camera int8_t frame_buffer[320*240]; //store frame data in here Here is the code that I initialize my GPIO and also enable interrupt for debugging purpose.. int8_t frame_buffer[320*240]; EXTI_InitTypeDef EXTI_InitStructure; void DCMI_GPIO_Co

Posted on January 09, 2012 at 16:30Hello everyone, A couple months back I was having some issues with DCMI that were mostly solved with some help here at the forums. Posted on January 09, 2013 at 21:12Dear All,I am using an stm32F407 to capture images coming from an imager. My imager is connected to the DCMI interface and then a DMA is responsible to move the data into the memory. So, I have just discovered that a chip bug with the revision A of the silicon does not allow to transfer the image to an external RAM controlled via the FSCM interface (see the Errata sheet for the stm32F40x ... device limitation). See the DMA2 limitation ''DMA2 data corruption when managing AHB and APB peripherals in aconcurrent way''.I experimented the corrupted data behaviour.Now, I have a 640x480 pixel of 12bit/pixel image; that means I need more than 600kbyte memory. When I connect the DMA2 with the internal memory everything is fine except that I can transfer only a small image.Question: How can I operate to acquire 640x480 pixel of 12bit/pixel image inside the external FSMC memory? Has someone experience with the DCMI/DMA2 and large images stored in the exter
Posted on December 03, 2012 at 06:42hi: after receiving DCMI data i am writing it to USB. after writing some files Hard fault handler occurs... why is it so? Firstly I capture the DCMI data to buffer, after one frame capture I stop the DCMI and start to transmit data over serial. I repeat this in while(1) loop. e.g while(1) { frame_capture(); //when frame is capture Send_usart(Buffer); } // it works fine it keep on running secondly, I capture a single frame, then write it on USB mass storage device, repeatedly. e.g like this frame_capture(); while(1) { fopen(......); fwrite(buffer); fclose(....); } // it works

Posted on November 23, 2012 at 10:07Hello, I was playing with the LCD interface of the STM3240G-Eval and I found that before writing on the GRAM I can set the GRAM Direction using following code: LCD_WriteReg(LCD_REG_3, <myValue>); Looking at the source code of stm324xg_eval_lcd.c I found that I can set this register to three different values which are 0x1018, 0x1008, 0x1030: 0x1018 means Horizontal Increment, Vertical Decrement and address is updated in vertical direction; 0x1008 means Horizontal Decrement, Vertical Decrement and address is updated in vertical direction; I didn't find in the manual and in the source code any information about the value 0x1030. I tried to set the write direction to 0x1030 and I found out that the lcd is refreshed with flickering. What does it means setting LCD_REG_3 register to 0x1030 ? Thank you so much. #lcd #stm3240g
Posted on November 22, 2012 at 11:09Hi, I'm developing on STM3240G-Eval board and I'm trying to use DMA for displaying an image from the SRAM memory on the LCD. This is the code that I wrote: void DMA_Write() { uint32_t skippedCycles = 0; DMA_InitTypeDef DMA_InitStructure; /* 1. Enable DMA Controllers */ RCC_AHB1PeriphResetCmd(RCC_AHB1Periph_DMA1, ENABLE); /* 2. Enable and configure Peripheral DMA_Stream (not required by SRAM).*/ LCD_WriteReg(LCD_REG_3, 0x1008); LCD_WriteRAM_Prepare(); /* 3. DMA_Init().*/ DMA_DeInit(DMA1_Stream0); while(DMA_GetCmdStatus(DMA1_Stream0) != DISABLE); DMA_InitStructure.DMA_Channel = DMA_Channel_0; DMA_InitStructure.DMA_PeripheralBaseAddr = (uint32_t) (0x64000000); // SRAM memory address DMA_InitStructure.DMA_Memory0BaseAddr = ((uint32_t)(0x60000000 | 0x60020000)); // LCD memory address DMA_Init
Posted on November 16, 2012 at 22:05Hi all. I was just wondering about TFTs. I have used a 3.2'' TFT on my Arduino before and have seen much use of TFTs on the STM32f4 discovery... The TFT I have in question is a 3.2'' with an SD card slot in the back. Like this one:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SainSmart-3-2-TFT-TFT-LCD-Shield-for-Arduino-Mega2560-Mega1280-R3-Nano-Robot-/271036654419?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item3f1b0b2353I am wondering if anybody has used this particular type.. I believe it uses an SSD1289 controller but has different physical connections than other tfts I have seen being used ( like the mikromedia boards for example...)If anybody has, I would be interested to know.( It is purely for educational purposes ATM.)Thankyou.Steve. #stm32f4-tft-ssd1289 #tft #stm32f4-discovery

Posted on June 24, 2012 at 23:13Hello I recently bought a STM32L-discovery and i try to print some message on the lcd display using some examples coming with IAR EWARM (LCD_SegmentsDrive for example). But when i use the function LCD_GLASS_DisplayString(''TEST''), the lcd hilights some segments in incomprehensible order. i first tried to execute the program in RAM using ''Download and debug'' without achieving to print some readable message. and when i pushed on reset, i had the normal message of the default program so i suppose than the board is OK. I then tried Flashing memory using ''download active application'' but without success. the Projet->option->debugger driver is set on ST-LINK and ST-LINK Reset on Normal, CLock Set up on 32.0 Mhz. I let the jumpers on their default positions (2 jumpers on ST-Link and the jumper on JP1 on) i am new to both EWARM and STM32 so if someone can help me. Thanks. #linker-bin-stm32-ewarm #stm32-discovery-iar-ewarm-lcd
Posted on August 16, 2012 at 15:55Hi everyoneI am currently using the DCMI on the STM3240G eval board. I can get images upto a resolution of 320x240. I wish to get images of 800x600. I have read that for this resolution the double buffer mode in DMA must be used. In this case is it like half the image is stored in one area and the other half is stored in a different area? Will I later have to combine them to get the complete image? Is there any other way to get images of high resolution? Currently, I store the image in the SRAM and display it on a 320x240 LCD. Also I transfer it to the SD card so that I can view it on my laptop. For higher resolutions I wont be able to display them on the LCD. Is there any other method you would recommend to view these images or should I continue transferring them to the SD card?Thanks in advance. #double-buffer #dcmi #dma
Posted on July 03, 2012 at 22:18Hi,I am designing device using 100 pin STM32F207 mcu and I was planning to connect camera to DCMI peripheral and SRAM to multiplexed FSMC using latches. But in process of drawing schematic I noticed that FSMC pin that controls latches (FSMC_NL or FSMC_NADV) is also DCMI_VSYNC and there is no alternative pin for that. Although in table 93 in datasheet it is shown that it is possible to use DCMI and muxed SRAM together.Is there any solution for this problem or I need to go for 144 pin controller?Thank you! #dcmi-fsmc-dcmi_vsync-fsmc_nl
