Posted on April 26, 2017 at 16:18Hi all,I found my call HAL_UART_Receive() doesn't timeout.  Do you have any suggestion what I forget configure?In CubeMX, I add uart2 and tim2 and I add my timer callback as this./* USER CODE BEGIN 4 */void HAL_TIM_PeriodElapsedCallback(TIM_HandleTypeDef *htim){ sprintf(aTxBuffer,'\r\nSTM32CubeMX rocks %d times \t', ++nbtime); HAL_UART_Transmit(&huart2,(uint8_t *) aTxBuffer, strlen(aTxBuffer), 5000); //printf('input:\r\n'); HAL_UART_Receive(&huart2,(uint8_t *) aRxBuffer, 10, 500); HAL_UART_Transmit(&huart2,(uint8_t *) ack, 11, 5000);}/* USER CODE END 4 */If I input 10 characters, the code works well.  However, if I don't input any thing,  HAL_UART_Receive() will not return. I believe it should return in 5000 ms. Do you have any idea about this?PS: I'm using STM32L072. #hal_uart_receive() #uart

Posted on April 11, 2017 at 11:42Hi There , We are currently working on a project using an EEPROM to store sporadic data. The eeprom is a 24AA512 with 512kbits memory, from Microchip.We use it to store datalogging data from our application. The problem is that we sometimes also need to store only 3-4 bytes data and that this eeprom does page or byte write operations identically, meanning that a full page of 128bytes is refreshed even if I choose to write only one byte in a page area, reducing the endurance of the full page of one cycle everytime. This might cause a problem in our application.Could anybody tell me if that is the case too in chips of ST , as the M24512 or M95512 for example? does every single byte write means that the full page has to be refreshed? That point doesn't seem to be clearly defined in the datasheet...thanks in advance for any help.Eric#endurance #byte-write #page-write #eeprom

Posted on April 21, 2017 at 09:35I have generated a project for an STM32F103C8T6 using CubeMX 4.20.1.I am using i with the 1.4.0 of the STM32CubeF1 library.I am using the unmodified generated code to send out data in the main loop.The CubeMX configuration is the following for the pins:I2C on PB-7 SPI on the PB3-5 (MISO is unused). The generated GPIO initialization code looks ok for me.If the I2C1 module is enabled there is not any output on the MOSI line even if sending non 0xFF data:I have narrowed down the source problem to the __HAL_RCC_I2C1_CLK_ENABLE in the HAL_I2C_MspInit.If I remove that the MOSI output will work as expected. (Of course in this way the I2C peripherial will not work):I have already checked the errata, but have not found any relevant. The generated codes seems to do what they supposed to, but I am not really sure where to look for the problem source.Any help would be deeply appreciated!#spi #cube-mx #stm32 #i2c #stm32f103

Posted on April 26, 2017 at 10:44   Hi,I am newbie in System Workshop for STM32. I tried write simple example - LED blink. Posted on April 25, 2017 at 10:23Hi, I met a problem using bootloader on pc to wirte program into STM32L432KC via UART.Here is the process I did :1,I connect D1/Tx and D0/RX(PA9 and PA10 of STM32L432KC) to CH340 USB to UART board, 5V Vin and GND. USB to PC.2, I connect 5V to pin 31 of STM32L432KC:PH3\BOOT0 , reset the ic, then pull PH3\BOOT0 = 0V. The LED do not blinky, which means the stm32L432KC is in boot mode.3, I opened Flash Loader Demonstrator boot loader, chose the COM port , click next:THen next: The software can not read Flash Mapping, nor the target name.Can not do anything with this.Checked in ST link Utility, no Read out protection. So I do not know what is the problem ? Software or hardware ? Nucleo board or CH430 ?Thank you!Yu

Posted on April 25, 2017 at 16:22Hi All,I am running BLE peripheral profile application on Mentor Graphics' Nucleus RTOS using STM32 MCU interfaced with BlueNRG-MS module. The application runs successfully and I can connect to the heart rate monitor profile using Android app by ST named 'STM32 BLE Profiles'. One of our requirements is that the BLE module should keep on advertising after we disconnect from it and we shutdown the MCU (Application Processor) and then we should be able to connect to it after MCU shutdown and it should wake up the MCU and start communicating with it normally. We are using SPI_IRQ line of BlueNRG-MS to send the wake up signal to MCU. As the profile has already been initialized on BlueNRG-MS before MCU went to shutdown state, we do not re-initialize the profile on BlueNRG-MS and only local objects used by the application are initialized again after MCU wake-up. The Android app connects to the BLE successfully and BueNRG-MS wakes up the MCU via SPI_IRQ p

Posted on March 19, 2017 at 12:38Hello all,I have bought a NUCLEO-L476RG board and a X-NUCELO_CCA02M1 board a couple of months ago and I have flashed the stm32f476RG micro of the board with the sample application that it is include in the folder...\Projects\Multi\Applications\Microphones_Streaming\Binary\STM32L476RG-Nucleo\MicrophonesStreaming_2Channels_16KHz.binand it works the application with Audacity. It is possible to record with the board and much more. To make it works, I had also to change the bridges of the CCA02M1 board according to the UM1900 User manual section 3.4.2.1  Jumper settings for DFSDM-based systems for 1 or 2 microphone acquisition.But the fact is, when I open the project with SystemWorkbench that is here ..\Projects\Multi\Applications\Microphones_Streaming\SW4STM32\STM32L476RG-Nucleo\STM32L476RG-MEMSMIC1and I compile and debug or run the program on the board it does not works the application with Audacity.In the documentation says very clear this:@par Hard

Posted on April 25, 2017 at 19:09Hello:I'm using an STM32F4 to capture low frequency pulses below 50Hz. The source is sending exactly 20 pulses, with a DC of about 25%. The input pin to the STM32F4 confirms 20 pulses. However, the STM32F4 seems to capture only half of them -10. (i.e., I printf the T2_TIM2Freq value and see only 10 statements) If I set the source to burst 16 pulses, it captures (prints) 8. Here's the setup and the interrupt. Can someone see something that would cause this?Thanks,Garyvoid TIM2configurationPA5(void){    NVIC_InitTypeDef NVIC_InitStructure;    GPIO_InitTypeDef GPIO_InitStructure;    TIM_TimeBaseInitTypeDef  TIM_TimeBaseStructure;        /* TIM2 Periph clock enable */    RCC_APB1PeriphClockCmd(RCC_APB1Periph_TIM2, ENABLE);         /* TIM2 channel 1 pin (PA.5) configuration */    GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Pin =  GPIO

Posted on April 17, 2017 at 14:12Hello All,I am using SPC560B54L5 board along with SPC studio V5.2.1.   I want to enable ECC for RAM and Flash memory area for checking the memory corruption. I enabled the corresponding bits for 1-bit and 2-bit ECC in ECR register but I am unable to enable the corresponding interrupt callback function. I referred  to the SPC560Bxx_RLA Test application, and '@How to Find the memory(FLASH) corruption issues in SPC MCUs?'.(from community).   But I am unable to call the corresponding interrupt callbacks.   Kindly guide me in enabling the ECC interrupts for Flash and RAM. Posted on April 25, 2017 at 10:19I have some problems to understand the functionality of HAL_RTC_SetTime().It is possible to set time and daylight handling data. This makes sense.But how can I adjust the daylight without the other time data? Or the the hours, minutes, seconds only?hrtc->Instance->TR = (uint32_t)(tmpreg & RTC_TR_RESERVED_MASK);/* Clear the bits to be configured */hrtc->Instance->CR &= (uint32_t)~RTC_CR_BCK;/* Configure the RTC_CR register */hrtc->Instance->CR |= (uint32_t)(sTime->DayLightSaving | sTime->StoreOperation);Because inside HAL_RTC_SetTime() the code above is processed always (except in initialisation).How should I initialise the struct member if I only want to adjust the daylight?RTC_TimeTypeDef sTime;sTime.Hours = ?;sTime.Minutes = ?;sTime.Seconds = ?;s.Time.DayLightSaving = RTC_DAYLIGHTSAVING_ADD1H;s.Time.StoreOperation = RTC_STOREOPERATION_SET;And on the other side what should be written in DayLightSaving if I just want to

Posted on April 24, 2017 at 17:30Hi All,I'm using STM32L486RG microcontroler, And 1Wire EEPROM.I have to use Timer to compute delays type ( delay for 5 s to 500 s).And I'm asking on How to Re-configure Timer on it's interrupt callBack and restart it.However, I was successfully able to disable the timer once IT callBack was generated. and I restarted it in my freeRTOS task, I was able to visualize time from oscilloscope, and it was correct timing.and now, I have to reduce more and more CPU charge by Restatring It on it's Interruption CallBack. Posted on April 22, 2017 at 22:02I've been able to get a graphical image displayed on the LCD on the STM32F746NG-DISCO board, using only internal SRAM and the L8 pixel format using the CLUT, but it is only showing up as linear monochrome output, i.e., a pixel value of 0x00 is black and a pixel value of 0xFF is white (and everything linearly in between as gray-scale).  I've programmed the CLUT with just 8 entries as a test but these values do not seem to be reflected in the actual display.  Here is my LTDC initialization code:volatile uint8_t __attribute__((section('.frame_buffer'))) frame_buffer[272][480]; // LCD frame buffervoid init_lcd(void) { // initialize LCD RCC->APB2ENR |= RCC_APB2ENR_LTDCEN; // enable clock for LTDC pllsaicfgr.cfgr.PLLSAIN = 192; pllsaicfgr.cfgr.PLLSAIP = 1; // P = /4 for PLLSAI48CLK (used by USB, RNG, SDMMC) pllsaicfgr.cfgr.PLLSAIQ = 4; // Q = /4 for PLLSAI clock pllsaicfgr.cfgr.PLLSAIR = 5; // R = /5 for PLLLSAI clock RCC->PLLSAICFGR = pllsai

Posted on February 19, 2017 at 20:59Hi all,I'm trying to use the camera STM32F4DIS-CAM with my STM32F7 Discovery board, with Keil uVision IDE. I have downloaded STM32Cube, and in the examples there is a BSP directory, with BSP drivers examples, including a camera.c for the camera. All the drivers are working well (LCD, Touchscreen, audio, sram...), but the programm stops when the Camera example starts. It seems that the initialization is OK, I can see 'QQVGA camera stream', but then nothing happens, the stream is only a white screen, and the touch actions do not work (change brighness, contrast...). The 'user button' also do not work anymore...Do you have an idea of the way I should follow to solve such problem?Thank you.Best regards,

Posted on April 21, 2017 at 12:13We know a micro can be powered up using its GPIO. If you didn't know - https://www.eevblog.com/forum/blog/eevblog-831-power-a-micro-with-no-power-pin!/I have an STM32F0103 which will be in OFF state (VCC = 0 V) and another uC which will be connected to it through SPI. The second uC can initiate an SPI transaction - call chip select, send SCK etc, but the STM is still in its OFF state. So my question is1.Will this cause the STM to get powered for a brief duration (when the pin is high)? I know it won't get enough current (the second uC GPIO pin won't supply enough), but will this flickering power cycle cause problems?2.What should I do to prevent this if it happens?#power-management #stm32

But I have write some test code without while(1) before, and it work well. It is really puzzled me. Why?Why?Why?  By the way, I use Keil MDK5 to build my code. hope someone can help me.

Posted on April 20, 2017 at 19:39Having trouble reading the MAC address using the HAL but mostly because of my inexperience. uint8_t             *MACAddr;                   /*!< MAC Address of used Hardware: must be pointer on an array of 6 bytes */printing heth.Init.MACAddr[0] does not print the first byte. It prints something, but not what I am expecting.  if I send &heth.Init.MACAddr[0] to printf, it does print the address, but the first try without the & produces what seems to be a different address. The value does not change no matter what I set the MAC Address to.  I'm obviously missing something when it comes to reading the value of a field of a struct when its a pointer.  Can someone help me get on the right path?      len += sprintf(etherString+len, ' MAC Address  &nbs

Posted on April 18, 2017 at 19:44Hi All,Have just moved over to the STM32 (have the Nucleo-F103RB!) device from 8bit devices, and am finding the STM32 device to be pretty cool Currently working on a personal project, to build a robotic arm and have decided to use the AS5048A (SPI interface) as a way to measure the angular position of each joint. I've configured the STM32 to use the SPI1 interface configured with CPHA = 1, and CPOL = 0; so the clock is idle low, and the trailing edge is used to capture data, which aligns with the AS5048A datasheet. It is also setup to only send 8bits at a time, I am aware that the device requires 16bits, so I've set up the transmit to take this into account, 2 bytes are transmitted between slave selections.When I read from the device, it seems to work.....sometimes, most of the time, I get weird data that doesn't make sense:I am unable to clear the error flag with each package (even when reading from the 'Clear Error Flag' register; when reading data f

Posted on April 19, 2017 at 11:43In a project I'm attempting to measure 4 frequency channels (range 10 to 500 hz) using TIM3 in the STM32FDuring development I noticed the occasional missed capture event, or double capture events. I didn't pay much attention to these glitches thinking it was my hardware that glitched around a bit.However, a completely other project with the same software has an identical problem. Then it must be software, right?I've looked and it for a few days, and I think I found another problem in the timer capture hardware. The erratas currently there: In capture mode, when a capture occurs while the CCRx register is being read, the capture flag (CCxIF) may be cleared without the overcapture flag (CCxOF) being set. The new data are actually captured in the capture registerIf a capture occurs while the capture register is being read, an overcapture is detected even though the previously captured data are correctly read and the new data are correctly stored into the
