Posted on July 12, 2017 at 12:18Dear Sir:I am using STM32L476 and want enter shutdown mode to save power.Right now I had call MX_GPIO_Init();//this is set all GPIO to Pullup and set Input, HAL_PWREx_EnterSHUTDOWNMode();and now the power consumption only 98uA,But spec write Shutdown mode is 8 nA or 260nA(with RTC)How can I reduce my power to nA.PS:I have try disable PVM and  __HAL_PWR_CLEAR_FLAG(PWR_FLAG_WUFx), but still same.

Posted on June 29, 2017 at 17:49Hello the STM Community,To quickly introduce my setup, I work on a custom board with a STM32f407 but I have the same issue with the STM32f4-discovery. I generate a simple project for this card, only to try the USB-OTG-FS library, only device mode, CDC device, and with vbus sensing disable.I flash the board, I plug it to my Win10 computer, it's recognized, everything's fine.I try to communicate with Tera Term, to test the communication PC -> Board. It works fine, I have the data in the buffer, and a breakpoint in the function CDC_Receive_FS is triggered to tell me that it goes that way, it's fine.I try the same with a custom C♯ app (which is my final purpose), but this time it doesn't work. The breakpoint is not triggered, the buffer is not filled. The data are apparently not sent to the correct endpoint. I thought about different reasons :- Could be my board, but since it's recognized, and I have a communication with Tera Term, it's unlikely- Could b

Posted on July 11, 2017 at 00:15 Hi, I have a quick question about the pull-up and the pull-down resistor. For example, I want to use the switch (S1) to control the output of the GPIO pin (PA0), and read this output to turn on/off another LED. When I set the GPIO pin, GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Pin = GPIO_Pin_0; GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Mode = GPIO_Mode_IN; GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_PuPd = GPIO_PuPd_DOWN; GPIO_Init(GPIOA, &GPIO_InitStructure); I can make the program work as I expected when I set it to be pull-down or NOPULL (float?). After some searching online, my understanding is that when I set the pin to have a pull-down resistor, there is a pull-down resistor shown in the figure, the PA0 is 0 when S1 is open and is 1 when S1 is closed. Is my understanding correct? Also, when I use the debugmode in Keil, there are a register block and a disassembly block shown on the screen but I do not know how to use them. For example, I want to see the output of the pin PA0 in each step (wh

Posted on May 30, 2017 at 20:46 Hello, I am working with the STM32L486 chipset and we need to generate an exact 38400Hz timer. Currently we have a 5MHz or 25MHz external clock coming in but the PLL clock tree does not seem to favor getting the exact 38400Hz rate for a timer. Is it possible with the above external clock rates? or if not, any suggestions to get this, including a different rate for external clock source? Thanks, ED Note: this post was migrated and contained many threaded conversations, some content may be missing.

Posted on July 11, 2017 at 17:16I am using the STM32F413 and am trying to use CAN1 and CAN2 in a ring topology (CAN1 sends and if CAN2 doesn't get the message then I know I have a network connectivity failure). I use the latest CubeMX to generate the configuration code and CAN1 appears to send messages just fine and CAN2 asserts the ACK bit just fine. CAN1 in loopback mode receives its own message but CAN2 using the same filter configuration as CAN1 in loopback mode always returns HAL_TIMEOUT. When I look at the hardware registers for CAN2, the flags for the receive FIFOs show that no message has been recorded. Here's the filter configuration for CAN2:sFilterConfig.FilterNumber = 0; sFilterConfig.FilterMode = CAN_FILTERMODE_IDMASK; sFilterConfig.FilterScale = CAN_FILTERSCALE_32BIT; sFilterConfig.FilterIdHigh = 0x0000; sFilterConfig.FilterIdLow = 0x0000; sFilterConfig.FilterMaskIdHigh = 0x0000; sFilterConfig.FilterMaskIdLow = 0x0000; sFilterConfig.FilterFIFOAssignment = 0; sFilterConfi

Posted on July 12, 2017 at 04:50 Hi, following scenario: I use one SD card on my pcb (4 wire sdio) with fatfs and FreeRTOS. The generated driver init function from ST looks like following (ff_gen_drv.c): uint8_t FATFS_LinkDriverEx(Diskio_drvTypeDef *drv, char *path, uint8_t lun) { uint8_t ret = 1; uint8_t DiskNum = 0; if(disk.nbr <= _VOLUMES) { disk.is_initialized[disk.nbr] = 0; disk.drv[disk.nbr] = drv; disk.lun[disk.nbr] = lun; DiskNum = disk.nbr++; path[0] = DiskNum + '0'; path[1] = ':'; path[2] = '/'; path[3] = 0; ret = 0; } return ret; }???????????????????? Situation: I have an exti interrupt on the SD_Detect pin of the socket to dynamically (de-)init the driver whenever the SD card is (un-)plugged. On unplug, I call: uint8_t SD_Deinit(void) { uint8_t retval = FAT_unmount_SD(); return retval | FATFS_UnLinkDriver((const TCHAR*) SD_Path); }???? On plugging in, I call (HAL_SDIO_PowerOff/On controls power supply pin

Posted on July 12, 2017 at 07:55I'm confused about wether STM32L471RG has a USB bootloader or not. AN2606 describes an STM32L47xxx DFU bootloader and that USB DM and USB DP lines should be connected to PA11 and PA12 respectively.But what confuses me is that no USB FS DM/DP line is described on PA11/12 nor USB capabilities in STM32L471RG datasheet.#stm32l4-usb #usb-bootloader #dfu #stm32l471 #dfu-bootloader

Posted on March 09, 2017 at 03:36when generating code for an stm32f769i-discovery with rcc set to enable external clock, the latest version does this:  RCC_OscInitStruct.OscillatorType = RCC_OSCILLATORTYPE_HSI|RCC_OSCILLATORTYPE_HSE;which causes a fault when it hits HAL_RCC_OscConfig(). the fix, and the behavior in previous versions, is to not try to choose both clocks at once. RCC_OscInitStruct.OscillatorType = RCC_OSCILLATORTYPE_HSE;

Posted on July 10, 2017 at 18:49Can anyone confirm what the Flash sector sizes are on this MCU version?All documentation lumps the F411xC with the F411xE even though the former has 256kB of flash, and the latter has 512kB. The stm32f4xx_hal_flash_ex header defines the same number of sectors as the F411xE, so I'm assuming all the sectors for the STM32F411CC are just half of all the sectors outlined in the datasheet (RM0383 / DocID026448 Rev 1 - page 43).The ST-LINK tool > Erase sectors option matches the datasheet, which is misleading as it shows a total of 512kB when counting up each sector!I just want to be 100% certain. My guess is that the sectors are using the same Start address but have the following sizes: Sector 0: 8KSector 1: 8KSector 2: 8KSector 3: 8KSector 4: 32KSector 5: 64KSector 6: 64KSector 7: 64KThanks!#stm32f4xx-flash #flash-stm32 #stm32f411cc

Posted on July 08, 2017 at 22:35On page 34 of the STM32F030 datasheet there is a table of Alternate Functions that I think contains an error.If you look at the GPIOA_AFR registers for port A and select column AF4 you will see that TIM14_CH1 is mentioned twice. The first time in connection with PA4 and the second time with PA7.Either I do not quite understand how it works or the second instance of TIM14_CH1 should be in another column. Besides that, why isn't this table in the Reference Manual (RM0360)?!(btw.  AF4 does connect TIM14_CH1 to PA4 )

Posted on March 15, 2017 at 16:57Hello,at the Embedded World 2017 campaign, ST25R3911B-Disco boards are given out. However looking for the software, I only foundhttp://www.st.com/content/st_com/en/products/embedded-software/st25-nfc-rfid-software/stsw-st25r001.html That page only gives a data brief about installation, but no software.Interest in those give-away gadget is highest short after aquisation by the user. So not having things ready for a beginnig user with hand-out of the gadget seems like a missed chance to me, Chances are high that many of these gadgets will end up in the drawer after the first unsuccessfully attempt to use them.Regards

Posted on July 07, 2017 at 05:45For a while now, I've been wanting to learn the DFSDM (cascaded-integrator-comb, or CIC, filter) peripheral on the STM32L4 and use it for some serious DSP work.  This week I finally had time to dig in and get it working.  The application (for now) is an ultrasonic translator.  The ultrasonic sounds are recorded by an external microphone and digitized at ~ 400 kHz.  In software, I mix this signal with a tunable local oscillator (NCO), then decimate/LPF by 16x, and shove the result out the codec to headphones.  (I am using an STM32L476 discovery board with some custom hardware.)The 16x decimation was working with a software-only, FFT-based filter, and I've been listening to bats with the thing.  So far so good!  But I wanted to use the hardware CIC (DFSDM) to reduce the processor load.  I also have some other project ideas for the DFSDM, and this was a good testbed for getting started with it.The DFSDM chapter in th

Posted on July 05, 2017 at 20:45With the STM32L476ZGT6 Evaluation board, which I've just started to use, I tried the LPTIM_PWM_LSE demo successfully (after modifying timer frequency to make LED blink at 1Hz). I then attempted to change the demo to use LPTIM2 instead. I noted that this did not produce the same result as for LPTIM1 where the LED would blink until Wkup/Tamper was triggered - the LED just stays on.main.c changes:1) RCC_PeriphCLKInitStruct.PeriphClockSelection = RCC_PERIPHCLK_LPTIM2;2) RCC_PeriphCLKInitStruct.Lptim2ClockSelection = RCC_LPTIM2CLKSOURCE_LSE;3) LptimHandle.Instance = LPTIM2;4) HAL_PWREx_EnterSTOP1Mode(PWR_STOPENTRY_WFI);  (instead of STOP2, since LPTIM2 doesn't work in STOP2)stm32l4xx_hal_msp changes:1) Changed 'LPTIM1' to 'LPTIM2' for all functions containing 'LPTIM1' in the name2) GPIO_InitStruct.Alternate = GPIO_AF14_LPTIM2;Any insights into why I cannot substitute LPTIM2 for LPTIM1 in this demo?Thanks!#lptim

Posted on July 04, 2017 at 11:16Hi everyone,I am designing a system that needs a bunch of interrupts working. By now I have three possible source of interrupts working:+ USART6+ SPI2+ TIM6The USART6 works sending and receiving data from PC.When SPI2 and TIM6 are not working the USART works with no problems, I can receive and send data prefectly.The protocol between the PC and the system is this:- I constantly send data packets to the PC until I receive an END data frame from it. At this moment I should stop sending packets and change to other state to make other tasks.The problem is when I am using SPI and TIM interrupts: TIM is a timer to trigger and data over the SPI to another IC, while I need to send data to the PC using USART.While the system sends data to PC all works OK, but when it tries to receive the END from the PC I go to an overrun error in the USART.I am trying to configure the priority this way:NVIC_SetPriorityGrouping(4);  NVIC_SetPriority(USART6_IRQn, 0);NVI

Posted on July 03, 2017 at 13:51Hello,I need using the first 32Kb flash section in order to store data in an STM32F765VGT (1M of flash). How can I change the program start address to the second section. Ive achieved to reallocate the program code in the second section by means of the linker script. But when I explore the first section with the stlink utility, in the first section, there is a piece of code instead of being empty. Furthermore if I erase this section the program stops working.Thank you very much.#linker #program #stm32f7 #stm32f765 #store-data #change-section #flash-section #start #program-start-address
