Posted on July 28, 2015 at 15:54Hi,I am wondering how to update FPWF01SA firmware via OTA? I saw the command in the user manual, but I could not find the ST website to download the firmware. And how is the sequence to upgrade the firmare? Moreover, how can I know the last firmware version available? One more thing: I am trying to communicate the module over UDP and it is not sending/receiving anything. I am wondering if an firmware upgrade will solve this issue.I really appreciate any help. Posted on August 06, 2015 at 18:01Hello, I am trying to connect to SPWF01SA using WiFi Direct. Is this supported yet and is there a guideline for how to set it up in the configuration? I have seen the keywords ''AhHoc/WiFi Direct Mode'' in ST presentations but there is little to be found on how to do this. With thanks, Hal.
Posted on August 06, 2015 at 01:35Hi,I am trying to operate the STW81200T RF PLL on my proprietary PCB. I had a first problem that I eventually managed to overcome: SPI communication with the board was not reliable. I traced it down to register 9, which according to the datasheet needs to be programmed with 0, while the power up default is 0x04000007. Since this register is used for testing I simply avoid programming it, and now I can communicate reliably with the PLL.Now I have a new problem: the PLL won't lock, and when reading register 10, there are two related bits that indicate an error: bit 13 (REG_VCO_4V5_STARTUP) is off, which indicates a voltage ramp up problem, and bit 8 (REG_VCO_OCP) is on, indicating an over current event.Any guidance regarding the cause of those problems? My design uses the same values as the reference board, except that the input voltage is a regulated 3.3V (from NCP700BSN33T1G) and the LDOs are set to 2.6V, and I use a 10MHz TCXO with the frequency doubl
Posted on July 27, 2015 at 14:17Hello again! See in st.com a new version of datasheet /June.2015/. Wonderfull, but I must read that file and previous version/s/ file to discover where and how mani differences are in Last version. Anyway, I have three questions about deep understanding of SPIRIT1: 1. In p.48 of datasheet, we read about High and Low threshold of AGC /Values 0...15/. I understand, that AGC algorythm start /if Enabled/ at Level -50 dBm. But, if I set High Threshold of AGC equal to, suppose 9, what that means? 9 is dBm, so -50+9=-41dBm?, or 9 is same as the RSSI Level, where 1LSB is equal to 0.5 dBm, so -50+(9*0.5)=-45.5 dBm, or something other, I don't know. Same question is about Low threshold. 2. In p.79, Table37, I/O Selection 29 and 20 we read ''VDD (or GND) , to EMULATE an additional GPIO of the MCU, programmable by SPI. I cannot understand, is there a way, (which I cannot understand), to made an additional GPIO of SPIRIT1, /by help of MCU/, and if it is true, what i

Posted on July 28, 2015 at 08:35Hi all.Sorry for my poor English. I designed board with BLUENRG and BALF-NRG-01D3 (based on X-NUCLEO-IDB04A1) and ordered to solder it. Now I have ready board. BLUENRG power is ok. I can initialize it, but I don't see any devices in BLUENRG smartphone applicaton. I measured resistance between BALF-NRG-01D3 pins ?1 and A2 (mounted to PCB) == 0.8 Ohm. Is it correct, or I have short circuit in PCB? I don't have any not soldered BALF-NRG-01D3 and I can't buy it in short order :( 10:38 http://www.kosmodrom.com.ua/prodlist.php?page=0&name=x-nucleo-idb04a1&okbutton=%CF%EE%E8%F1%EA+%EF%EE+%F1%EA%EB%E0%E4%F3
Posted on July 27, 2015 at 16:23Hi, When the SPWF01 is in miniAP mode what setup will allow the client to resolve the module's domain name. Do I need to set ip_dns to be the module's IP address ? Thanks, Mark

Posted on July 24, 2015 at 11:36Hi, My product will do FCC certification, and the wifi module in my product is SPWF01.SA. As FCC certification requiement,I need to set SPWF01SA as below: 11B-Ch1,Ch7,Ch13 11G-Ch1,Ch7,Ch13 11N-Ch1,Ch7,Ch13 I can configure the channel num by AT command successfully, but I don’t know how to configue the module to 11B ,11G or 11N. Pls help me for this problem. Thanks Peter
Posted on December 18, 2014 at 23:39We are evaluating the BlueNRG module as a candidate for our next generation h/w and need to verify the actual payload data rate that can be achieved as a BLE Peripheral using Notification (i.e. unacknowledged server packets) with the maximum user payload size of 20 bytes. Our current h/w solution succeeds in sending Notifications to our proprietary iOS application, using our proprietary 128-bit profile, at > 250-Hz. I recently attended the ST seminar deomonstrating the Nucleo M0-to-BlueNRG solution, and a very ambitious data throughput was quoted, but I did not write it down. Nevertheless, the seminar and the demo boards attracted this evaluation by our company and I have implemented out proprietary profile on the Nucleo M0 host of the BlueNRG using the sample project from the seminar as a template: STM32Cube_FW_L0_V1.1.0\Projects\STM32L053R8-Nucleo\Bluetooth_LE\SampleApp\EWARM This implementation can only achieve ~10-Hz (i.e. sending a 20-byte N
Posted on May 13, 2015 at 10:43Hello,now I have my STM32 up and running, communicating with a BlueNRG. But after the first connection event, I do not get any ACL data. With my BLE sniffer, I see an ATT ''exchange MTU request'', but I don't get any incoming ACL data. I've read the documentation to both, HCI_Set_Event_Mask and HCI_LE_Set_Event_Mask, there seems to be no means to switch on ACL data.I've issued a HCI_LE_Read_Buffer_Size command and got the response, that the HCI stack accepts one ACL data packets with a maximum length of 0x1b (that's the minimum ATT MTU + L2CAP overhead). So it looks like the HCI stack knows about ACL data packets and UM1755 states in 2.1. that HCI ACL data packet are supported.I receive also the disconnect event from the GATT client after it tried to issue some ATT requests and timed out. What could be the issue here? Any help, pointer or comments are highly appreciated.kind regards,Torsten #bluenrg-hci-acl-data
Posted on July 13, 2015 at 16:57Which concurrent roles does the the BlueNRG-MS support? For example: 3 Master - MyDevice 2 Master - MyDevice - 1 Slave 1Master - MyDevice - 2 Slave MyDevice - 3 SlaveRegards Thomas #bluenrg-ms
Posted on July 20, 2015 at 12:00hello, please excuse my limited knowledge here. I am evaluating the SPWF01 module and have it connected successfully to an AP but I would also like it to open a SOCKD command on startup - it is not connected to a host controller so wondering if there was a method by which this can be called during bootup rather an at runtime?thanks,John #spwf01s
Posted on May 23, 2014 at 11:00Hello Does ST plans in the short term to produce its own Bluetooth LE module using the BlueNRG controller? The BlueNRG controller does need quite a lot external components compared to its competitors (like TI ), selling it as a module with or without antenna, would be interesting. Currently the most modules available use TI controllers, but the ST controller seems to consume so much less which makes it a much more interesting solution. By module I mean something like that. Panasonic:http://uk.farnell.com/productimages/farnell/standard/2325991-40.jpg Or the smallest one available, the new TDK SESUB-PAN-T2541 (no antenna) 4.6 x 5.6mm only:http://fareastgizmos.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/TDK.jpg Thank you
Posted on July 09, 2015 at 11:57Dear all, I am using a high density STM32F103 MCU where I need to define GPIOC0-GPIOC7 as bidirectional since data on all these pins will either be sent or received to/from another chip. I have designed these pins as: GPIO_InitStruct.GPIO_Pin = GPIO_Pin_0 | GPIO_Pin_1 | GPIO_Pin_2 | GPIO_Pin_3 | GPIO_Pin_4
Posted on July 15, 2015 at 08:43 Hi, I am hoping to be able to serve some web pages from the SPWF01 which make use of javascript and css. I have put some test files into the flash and they can be fetched using HTTP individually OK but when I try to access my html file that references the javascript and css files some of the transfers fail. I am trying to make sense of the wireshark capture but in the meantime I thought I would ask what is the known limitations of the lwip HTTP server that the SPWF01 uses. Can it cope with more than 1 request at a time? If I can't serve html with javascript and css from the SPWF01, it's a big problem. Cheers, Mark
Posted on July 07, 2015 at 13:25Hi. I have a problem to connect the SPWF01SA1 with my Access Point. When the module try to connect restart before complete the Wifi scanning. Does anybody can help me. my config, status, & capture file as attachment. #spwf01sa1
Posted on July 02, 2015 at 13:13Greetings,I have a problem with my test board. I am using a Spirit1 module on a PCB toghether with a STM32F103 microcontroller, trying to implement a wireless comunication. On the board there are two different oscillators: a 8 MHz quartz oscillator for the microcontroller and a 52 MHz quartz for the Spirit1. The problem is that I found out that the XIN and XOUT pins of the Spirit1 are not connected to the 52 MHz oscillator, so the module stays in READY state after exiting from shutdown. I wanted to know if:- it is possible to configure the low frequency internal oscillator (at 34.7 kHz) of the Spirit1 as the reference clock;- it is possible to eventually generate an external clock coming from the MCU (for example through a PWM) to one of the GPIOs of the Spirit1.Thank you for your attention.
Posted on July 02, 2015 at 16:04Hi, I'd like to use the SPI connection of SPWF01SC. Could you say me please which pinout description are right? Is the the DocID025635 Rev 2 and the STEVAL-IDW001V1 with SPI description right? http://www.mikrocontroller.net/attachment/229286/spwf01.pdf Or the DocID025531 Rev 5 without SPI? http://www.st.com/web/catalog/sense_power/FM2185/SC1930/PF258592 Thanks
Posted on April 20, 2015 at 11:29Hi,I'm trying to achieve a communication between two wifi devices through a SPWFO1SA.11 , and I want to achieve the highest possible bite rate. My questions are then:-Can I use the mentioned SPI port to perform the AT commands?-Can I use the GPIO to transmit data to the SPWF to create a file for instance?Best regards,Hector #spi-error
Posted on June 27, 2015 at 00:17We have trouble to get the SPIRIT1 on our own board working. The very basic problem is that the chip can not be switched to any other state then ready Therefor the setup for any frequency settings are not possible. We spend now one week to make sure that the SPI communication is correct and working as required. Unfortunately is the datasheet very basic e.g. the status bytes responded with the first 16 clock cycles are not documented. We have the following questions: Are there other status bytes to read to figure out what the possible problem of our design is? We have assembled a view boards with different soldering specs. But all behave the same. #spirit1

Posted on June 25, 2015 at 15:29Hi,I'm trying to set up a communication between two SPWF01SA.A is set as the server, B as the client. I wrote a text to send from A to B when the WIND 61 + WIND 60 are detected. If a try to do it just after the WIND 60, B misses some bytes (at the beginning of the frame). The number of bytes lost changes randomly.I put a delay of 3 milliseconds after the WIND60 and it worked just fine...Why can't I send my frame just after the WIND60?Thank you
Posted on June 26, 2015 at 09:40I wish to create a bluetooth scatternet. The network consists of 15 nodes (microcontroller and bluetooth module). 3 piconets (maybe more) with 5 nodes . 1-4 nodes are connected to 5 node, 5-9 nodes are connected to the 10 node, 10-14 nodes are connected to 15 node. 5, 10, 15 nodes dynamic switch between master and slave modes. At one point of time they work in master mode in one piconet , at another point of time they work in slave mode in another piconet. Android phone is connected to 15 node and send command to any node. For example, I want to send a packet to 3-th node. Android phone connecte to the 15-th node and send packet. 15-th node is looking for a 3-th node in his piconet, when does not found, he sends the packet to the 10-th node. 10-th is looking for a 3-th node in his piconet, when does not found, he sends the packet to the 5-th node. Then 5-th node send packet to the 3-th.Questions: 1) Which module supports the scatternet
Posted on April 28, 2015 at 11:13Hi, I'm testing a solution with Spirit1 + SKY66100-11 for 169MHz transmission. I have a 600mA current consumption with spirit1+sky 66100-11+TCXO. Is it normal? Where Can I found a detailed technical report of current consumption ? Thanks for the help. #sky66100-11 #spirit1 #169mhz
