Fail the image flashing on STM32MP257F-EV1

Dear ST Developer Support,

I download the STM32MP2 android 13 images from https://www.st.com/en/embedded-software/stm32mp2droidsta.html#get-software .

When I flash the st-android-13.0.0-2024-07-31-stm32mp257f-ev1-emmc-starter images by using STM32CubeProgrammer v2.19 for windows, I would fail on flashing super.img phase.

The error message show "Error while reading the file".

Would you help me solve this problem. Thanks.

Check if super.img is Corrupted or Incomplete

Go to the directory:

D:\Project\STM\STM32MP257F\Android-13\en.st-android-13.0.0-2024-07-31-stm32mp257f-ev1-emmc-starter\st-android-13.0.0-2024-07-31-stm32mp257f-ev1-emmc-starter\

Try to open super.img using a hex editor or simply right-click → Properties → check the file size. Compare the size with the official one (should be several GB).

If it’s too small (e.g. a few KB), the archive may have failed to extract properly, or the download was corrupted.

     I used CubeProgrammer to flash images, and I also meet error problem when I flash super.img.It reports that "Error: Error while reading the file" the same to your error.
I try to use stm32cubeprg-win64-v2-17 to flash the same image today, and it doesn't have the error when it flash super.img now. You can try to use stm32cubeprg-win64-v2-17 to flash image.

Solution:

I try to use the older CubeProgrammer version v2.17 or v2.18, the problem could be solved. The super.img could flash successfully. I think the root cause is CubeProgrammer version problem.

This is a known issue in CubeProgrammer v2.19 and is reported internally (Case n°208176).

Issue will be fixed in the next release coming beginning of next month.
