BAL-UWB-01-E3 polarity

Hi there,

The BAL-UWB-01-E3 datasheet (and symbol from ST) defines DIFFn and DIFFp specifically - indicating that they are actually polarized. For layout reasons I need to swap them around which to my understanding would just turn the unbalanced signal 180 deg out of phase (which would be fine?) Are these pins actually polarized or did they just pick one configuration n go with it?

Hello ,

BAL-UWB-01E3 DIFF_N & DIFF_P pins are only referring to balanced port side of the balun.
There is no biasing consideration behind this name.
Theses ports needs to have different name for layout & netlist consideration.

Swapping ports will change amplitude & phase imbalance sign.

Please note also that theses pins needs to be DC coupled (see product datasheet fig 6) .
Typical land pattern is shown on product datasheet fig 12.
As this balun is a 50/100 ohms : diff side is connected thru a 100 Ohms pair lines & single side thru a 50 ohms line.
