Are other components of CAN datalines, like termination resistors or capacitors, robust enough versus ESD?

Yes these discrete components are also vulnerable to ESD and their value or lifetime can be impacted by repetitive ESD surges.

But as the CAN protection device must be placed right after the connector, it will protect all the discrete components of the CAN line on top of the CAN transceiver.
