Posted on May 03, 2017 at 23:26Hi all,I have 3 boards with 3 different MCUs, one with STM32L053R8T6, one with STM32L152RCT6, and one with STM32L443RCT6.All use same 32,768Khz LSE crystal and 12pF caps. But only STM32L053 works fine when LSE is turned on ...other two MCUs jump to Error handler function. i used STM32Cube for all 3 MCUs. a simple program to turn on LED for example ...I even changed the crystal with another type, or increased LSE Timeout Value in STM32Cube to 10000 but still no result.I checked in Debug, the LSERDY flag is not activated and it leads to Timeout and jump to Error Handler function. What can be the problem ?!#lse-startup

Posted on April 28, 2017 at 11:37Hi,Currently, I'm working on a project where LCD, Camera and CAN are involved.I'm using STM32F769I-EVAL platform for my work with 'SetupSTM32CubeMX-4.19.0' installation and 'STM32Cube_FW_F7_V1.6.0' firmware package. As far as my understanding, Camera and LCD required accurate clocks hence, I have to use HSE oscillator clock for the same. When it comes to bxCAN, I have seen many of the example source initialize HSI clock for the same. When I try to make it into HSE, then BxCAN is not functioning properly! The only CAN example I have found with HSE clock is 'CAN_Networking' example from 'STM32Cube_FW_F7_V1.6.0' firmware package, in which only one side (transmitting) is working properly and other side (receiving) not.So, I would like to know whether bxCAN can work with HSE oscillator clock. If yes, then which values (such as SYSCLK,HCLK, AHB Prescaler, PLLM etc. ) I have to put for the HSE clock configuration in-order to make it work for LCD,

Posted on May 11, 2017 at 04:59Hi,Is there any way to prevent some interrupt sources waking up when in stop mode except the one I want?  I may not know what interrupts are enabled/disabled when entering stop mode (obviously I could check the registers).I want to delay in stop mode using the RTC wakeup timer but don't want other interrupt sources (eg EXTI) waking up during this delay otherwise it may cut my delay short! Can this be done using interrupt priorites or are they not considered for wakeup?Using STM32L051Any ideas?

Posted on May 12, 2017 at 17:16Hi.I am working with the STM32F767 and configuring the Ethernet RMII interface.    The Ethernet PHY has an Rx Error output, and I'm not sure if this must be connected to the STM32.STMCube when configuring the Ethernet RMII interface doesn't allow selecting 'Activate Rx Err signal' .   The Rx Error option is greyed outIs this RMII signal required back to the STM32?How is it configured in STMCube or manually, or where can I find this information? For comparison, the STM32F746 Discovery board has the Rx Error signal wired back to the STM32 on BGA pin PG2, which only lists alternate functions FMC_A12 and EVENT_OUT.    Neither are RMII functions? Thanks.

Posted on April 29, 2017 at 04:09OK, I am sold on STM32 big time. The devices I am using are on a development board, but it's the STM32F103C8T6 at the core. It is the same device used to program using STLINK V2 from a discovery board. When I can program this device, I plan to production run my own board using this device. What I am having lots of issues with is programming the device with other than the Arduino IDE. I want to use Eclipse on a Windows 10 machine, and maybe use my home Debian Linux server but it has no GUI. I do not want to CLI or Command Line Interface this board for now.I have gone through numerous tutorials and posts about using OpenOCD with Eclipse, but nothing I have followed has worked.I am using a STM32 discovery board to program my STM32F103C8T6 and it works fine with Arduino IDE. I want to break out of the Ardiuno IDE though and use Eclipse. I am interested in using my Eclipse Neon 3 build to program everything I have embedded that supports SWD.I don't want

Posted on May 12, 2017 at 11:02I've noticed this behaviour in Atollic TrueStudio 7.0.1 and 7.1.2, using the ST-Link V2 debugger (several variants, including the regular ST-Link V2 and the ISOL version). When I place a breakpoint in the code, the execution stops at the breakpoint, I can inspect variables and otherwise interact with the device under test, but the device continues to run.The debugger is clearly in 'Suspended' mode, but the target is running : status LEDs are still blinking and it's responding to its environment. When I try to step through the code, it jumps to a seemingly random location instead of going to the next line. This is a recent bug, doesn't happen all the time, and a colleague of mine has also experienced it recently.Running our own code on a STM32L151RB. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.#stm32l1 #st-link/v2 #debugging #atollic #truestudio

Posted on May 11, 2017 at 22:51I am using the STM32L437 part and I run into some confusion with SysTick. I set up the SysTick to run at 1ms with timer 5 as Timebase source (for comparison). As a sanity check, I also set up timers 3, 4, 6 and 7 independently at 1ms as well, thinking they would all match up pretty closely but the results for SysTick and timer 5 are a bit different from the other 4 timers. In this test code I only use one clock source at a time (either internal OR external, no mixing... when using internal clock source the difference is even more pronounced). As you can see here the SysTick and timer 5 show 2669 seconds elapsed, but the other 4 regular timers show 2612 seconds, a difference of 57 seconds. Does SysTick run on a different clock than the other timers? Is there anything special about SysTick compared to other timers that I am not aware of. Thanks!ED

Posted on May 11, 2017 at 16:04Suppose there's a table with two columns: column A has the destination address and column B has the value I want to write to the destination. (Destination addresses in column A are NOT contiguous) Is there any way to direct the DMA to read the destination from column A and conduct the transfer of Column B without CPU intervention? Curious about the F4 / F7 but would welcome any input on any other Cortex cores if available. Thanks!#memory #stm-32f7 #f7 #dma

Posted on May 09, 2017 at 11:18   Dear community, I am using STM32F746 Discovery and the IDE is Keil C. I have a problem with Keil C Compiler.   My project have 2 parts:       Part 1. Get pictures (BMP) from SD Card and print to LCD screen. It is working well.      Part 2. Measure analog signal by ADC, get and save data from/to RTC , External Flash, then print the data to LCD screen. It is working well too.   However, the problem is just only one part is working without the other part in my code. When i add both in my code, it is not work (just only SD Card is not work). Example:A. Only part 1:int main(void){       System_Config();                           // Configure the System       SD_BMP_LCD(); &nbs

Posted on May 09, 2017 at 12:20Hello fellow developers,I have an stm32f4 board connected to PC through a USB link. Basically, the board is linked through an SPI link to several sensors. It gathers data from the sensors, filters and processes it before it sends it to the PC through the USB link for further processing and to display the results. I am building the USB link on top of the ST cube USB library and all works well.I have lately been adding further data to the processing algorithm. I am using an array of 8 elements to average the sensors data. I have two sensors connected that I need to do this to. When I add the averaging algorithm to one sensor, everything works great and no problems occur what so  ever. When I add the averaging to the second sensor I start to get a weird error. Basically, When I restart the PC, things work for some minutes before the USB communication stalls. To make the system run again I have to unplug and plug the USB cable. At this point, everything

Posted on April 18, 2017 at 22:04My understanding of the UID is it's plopped into the device by ST and not touchable write-wise (read only) .Makes it good for use in SERIAL number application like USB descriptor serial number string. For the STM32L476 which address is correct for the UID register location ? 1FFF7A10 or 1FFF7590?And is the EVAL CDC demo fouled for this?-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------STM32L476 manual RM0351  (REV 5 March 2017) says49.1 Unique device ID register (96 bits)The unique device identifier is ideally suited:• for use as serial numbers (for example USB string serial numbers or other endapplications)• for use as part of the security keys in order to increase the security of code in Flashmemory while using and combining this unique ID with software cryptographicprimitives and protocols before programming the internal Flash memory• to activate secure boot processes, etc.The 96-bit unique device i

Posted on May 05, 2017 at 18:44Hi,I'm trying to connect a TTL-232R USB-UART Converter to an STM32F3DISCOVERY board. I've connected the TX/RX wires on the TTL-232R to PB10/PB11 on the STM32F3DISCOVERY board. I have the board connected to my laptop over USB.Do I need to connect the 5V/GND wires on the TTL-232R? Or are these signals already provided by USB?Any help would be much appreciated.Cheers,Tony#uart #stm32f3-discovery

Posted on April 26, 2017 at 07:14Hello,I am working with the STM32L476G-Discovery board. I am testing the examples applications and I have found an error in the demonstration application regarding to the soundmeter feature.* With the *.bin file provided in the Binary folder the application works normally. I mean, that you can see in the Display how it changes the sound intensity in dB when it is louder or not.* but, with the IAR source code project, when you program the demonstration application in the STM32L476G-Discovery board, the soundmeter feature doesn't function anymore, it shows a constant value of 120dB in the Display of the board.I think again, somebody change something in the code and he forgot to test it. Typical, very typical. Please, check this error as soon as possible and provide a change in the software to solve this problem.Regards,Daniel

Posted on May 03, 2016 at 17:10Hello communityhere they are my 5 cent of opinion about the - otherwise great - Cube MX.I ee that, whenever I regenerate a project for whatever reason (changing clock scheme, using DMA for USART instead of polling etc.), if I keep the same project name the Cube re-generate the HAL coden of the select peripherals (OK), keep the user code inside the 'user-code begin / end' keyword of the source files (also OK) but- a - recreate a new project file everytime (do not like)- b - delete the user files under the directory <proj_name>/src and inc (do not like)My project is under revision control so -b- is not too much annoying but -a- is: I cannot restore the old project file without loosing any new option introduced by the lastest Cube MX runPlease comment or advice in case I am doing something wrong or using a bad methodologythanks

Posted on May 05, 2017 at 16:24Hello All,I am using SPC560B54L5 board along with SPC5studio 5.2.1 and UDE 4.2In my application I am trying to receive 256 bytes of data/packet and sending 30 bytes(max.) of response to the sender. The application starts working initially, but after sometime(most of the time after 274 packets)  it blocks somewhere. The status in UDE shows ''core running'' but failing to send or receive data through UART.If I try to break the execution explicitly in UDE, UDE prompts to select the source file''reent.c''.No other interrupts except UART and PIT(PIT0 for syswaitmilliseconds()) , are in my application.Prompting for reent.c:Kindly provide your valuable suggestion to resolve the issue.

Posted on May 07, 2017 at 23:19Hello,I have encountered problem with printf function. I am using CycloneTCP stack, where %hhu identifiers were used and workeg good. I tried to port demo applications to CubeMX etc and I got eferything working well besides printf with %hhu identifiers.I have created new project with only this function in it, here is the part of code:size = sprintf(buffer, '%u, %hu, %hhu\n', 123, 123, 123); HAL_UART_Transmit_IT(&huart3, buffer, size); What I get is:123, 123, huDoing the same in original demos of stack mentioned above give good results. What I tried is to change language standard to C11 but it didn't make any change. Have you met such a problem?Regards,Pawel#printf #stdio

Posted on September 15, 2016 at 01:01Hi, the topic probably explains it all. When creating a new project with CubeMX, there's usually a long list of TODOs showing up under tasks (using Atollic) which makes it rather difficult to set up my own tasks. Example in csmis_armcc_V6.h: /* ToDo:  ARMCC_V6: check if __builtin_arm_rbit is supported */ Would it be asked too much to tidy up any leftover //TODO comments from any generated source files before release? Thanks!

Posted on May 04, 2017 at 15:22Hi there, is there anybody with STM32F7XX and is able to read bigger file (larger than 30MBytes) from SD card until the end ? without DMA ?i'm asking because i tried more types of cards, and i tried to setup clk div for SDIO to 400kHz and i don't have any success :(i always get error RXOVERR in SDMMC_STA after couple MBytes (2MB-3MB)i need just confirmation that it's possible ...thanks for all replies ...Kind regards

Posted on May 03, 2017 at 01:36 When compiling projects using standard HAL libraries, I often get a dozen or so warnings about unused parameters in library functions. Would it be possible to tell your programmers to please add '__attribute__((unused))' in front of all unused parameters or unused variables in general? Right now my only solution is to completely disable all warnings for the 'Middlewares' and 'Drivers' folders which is not really helpful. Examples: usbd_desc.c: uint8_t * USBD_HS_ManufacturerStrDescriptor(__attribute__((unused)) USBD_SpeedTypeDef speed , uint16_t *length) { USBD_GetString ((uint8_t *)USBD_MANUFACTURER_STRING, USBD_StrDesc, length); return USBD_StrDesc; }????? uint8_t * USBD_HS_LangIDStrDescriptor( __attribute__((unused)) USBD_SpeedTypeDef speed , uint16_t *length) { *length = sizeof(USBD_LangIDDesc); return USBD_LangIDDesc; }????? Compiling a sample project with some extra warning flags enabled should give a very quick & e
