Posted on July 06, 2017 at 22:34Hi, I am using an STM32L486, connected to a BlueNRG-MS via SPI. I am trying to build a simple app that can advertise, with one service and a 6 characteristics. I'm following the example in the programming guide, i.e. I've configured the SPI to talk to the BlueNRG-MS, enabled the SPI IRQ, and put STM's handler in the interrupt handler. I am able to get through creating my service, even to the point of advertising, but then the STM32l486 hard faults. I'm pretty sure this is happining in the ISR, which is constantly firing. Any ideas as to what is wrong? Does it make sense that the BLueNRG should be constantly interrupting? Ricardo
Posted on May 16, 2017 at 15:38Hi,I am using the STM32 Nucleo Expansion Board WiFi Module for a project. I followed the Quick Start Guide and tried to run the HTTP_Request example project. However, after asking for the SSID, password and encryption mode, the terminal does not ask for the Hostname nor connect to the WiFi as shown in the guide. I have followed all the setup steps and updated the firmware, so I don't understand why it is not connecting. Does someone know what is wrong or had similar problems? Thanks!
Posted on July 05, 2017 at 12:10I'm using quad comparator LM2901.When i wanted to invert output i've just swaped places of + and - inputs. It worked on emulator but did not work on real circuit. What am i doing wrong?Maybe there is a better way to do that?
Posted on July 04, 2017 at 15:30Hello!For a project at work we're using SP1ML-915 modules. For testing I have one dongle made by ST and one PCB made in house with SP1ML module mounted and connected to USB.After sending random strings between the two, I go into command mode and check RSSI (ATI1\r command). Usual values there are between -115 and -105 dBm. The value doesn't really change when I move the transmitter around or when I change the transmitting power.I'm getting about 10 meters of indoor range (walls and metal between the transmitter and receiver). What am I doing wrong?#sp1ml

Posted on June 26, 2017 at 14:41 hi I am using afor SPWF04Sx Wi-Fi module - and am trying to run the example python code provided in the user guide. I have the SPWF04Sx configured as console 2 (UART and python) I have created a file called wind.py and copied the code from the WIND example section 5.2 on page 17 of AN49 I have used the command 'AT+S.FSC=wind.py,479' to copy it to the RAM on the SPWF04Sx I have tried running it by calling 'AT+S.PYTHON=wind.py' but only get the response: File '2:wind.py', line 1 SyntaxError: invalid systax I have also tried the basic code in 5.1 and, i have created a one line python file with only print('hello') in it. This also gets the same SyntaxError error Any suggestions? I've also noticed that the CTRL short codes dont work on my system i.e. CTRL-D is not recognised to exit REPL, -and I am unable to use CTRL-E to enter Paste mode. Any ideas on that one? Note: this post was migrated and contained many threaded conversations, some cont
Posted on June 30, 2017 at 07:37Hi All,I've been working on a project which involves programming a BlueNRG-1 microcontroller over SWD. As recommended far and wide, I have ensured that DIO7 is pulled high and have followed reasonable design practices, but I am having trouble figuring out how to get my Windows 10 laptop to recognize my board over SWD. I am using a SEGGER J-Link debugger to communicate with my device. In the BlueNRG GUI and BlueNRG Flasher utilities, I am prompted that my serial port is closed. However, when I attempt to program my device with J-Flash Lite it seems like some information is able to reach the BlueNRG-1 and it notifies me that programming has been successful.Has anyone experienced this before? I am new to these tools and the hardware, so anything that can be offered as help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Jake#configuration #swd #bluenrg #bluenrg-1 #jlink #com-port
Posted on June 28, 2017 at 17:20Hello,We're trying to migrate a board from the SPWF01SC to the SPWF04SC. Two of the additions to the SPWF04 are the LSE and HSE external clock pins. They're not displayed on the block diagram for the SPWF04 in its datasheet so does it use the STM32F429's internal RC oscillator by default or do we need to add oscillators to our board as per the X-NUCLEO-IDW04A1 evaluation board? Thanks,Steve
Posted on March 14, 2017 at 14:21Hello,I'm a newbie to the RF world. I'm trying to connect an SPIRIT1 to an Arduino. So far, i was able to communicate with the spirit1 through the SPI interface. However when i send a LOCK or RX/TX command to the spirit1 it get's stucked in the LOCKWON status. I'm using a 50Mhz oscillator with the oscillator output soldered to the Spirit's XTAL IN and XTAL Out left floating. Below is the configuration of registers i used in the order i sent them to Spirit1. What am i doing wrong? Shall i use a different crystal, maybe of 52Mhz instead of 50Mhz?Register Addr Value SYNTH_CONFIG[0] 0x9F 0xA0SYNTH_CONFIG[1]
Posted on June 27, 2017 at 23:44HiI need to implement my own channel mapping based on a different scenario. For example, in the list of bad channels and good channels which use RSSI or PER, I want to increase the BER for good channels in a certain time period. Another example can be rescheduling the channel list based on different timing or clustering. I was wondering if somebody can help me to implement this with ST hardware and the BLE stack.Regards#afh #bluenrg #linklayer #ble-5 #bluetooh #ble #coexsitance
Posted on June 26, 2017 at 14:52HiIs there any form of user guide/README.txt for how to create filesystem images using STMicroelectronics\OTA-Images\FS\utils\bin\Windows\CreateFS (dir2img.bat)I've previously used httpd_gen.exe and gen.bat for filesystem images for the SPWF01 - can these still be used for the SPWF04?
Posted on November 20, 2016 at 18:43The SOCKD implementation suffers from many race conditions and bugs which makes it impossible to make robust applications without forcibly rebooting the WiFi module when it's not performing as expected.Problems & bugs:1. Posted on September 28, 2015 at 19:19Hi, I'm having trouble with advertising: it seems that after some time, the module stops advertising. The actual time after the issue appears seems to be grossly related to the Advertising_Interval_Min & Advertising_Interval_Max values. The lower the values, the shorter the time the issue appears. Values such as 0x800 and 0x900 (default) seems to encounter the issues after days but values such as 0x20 and 0x30 encounter the issue after minutes. When the advertisement stops, it is still possible to connect to the module, using it's address. Below is some code to reproduce the issue, this code is running on a STEVAL-IDB003V1 with firmware bluenrg_6_4_Mode_2-32MHz-XO32K.img Although the same issue appears on multiple prototype boards with similar firmware. ♯ Reset BlueNRG/BlueNRG-MS RESET() if ACI_HAL_SET_TX_POWER_LEVEL(En_High_Power=0,PA_Level = 4) != 0x00: ERROR(''ACI_HAL_SET_TX_POWER_LEVEL FAILED'') ♯ Set Random Address if
Posted on May 24, 2017 at 15:43Hi All,I am using ST's BlueNRG-MS SDK on an RTOS and when I try to send aci commands I get timeout status in return for some of them. For example in one application I am getting timeout after calling aci_gatt_add_char(), and in another example I am getting timeout for aci_hal_write_config_data().Debugging Results: Please find attached hci.c file for the discussion below:1. In the hci_send_req() function of attached hci.c file, if I suspend the current task for very small time after calling hci_send_cmd() at line 227 by calling nu_sleep() in case of my OS, there is no timeout and command completes successfully. 2. Similarly, instead of suspending the task as stated above, if I remove Disable_SPI_IRQ() call at line 271 in attached hci.c file, there is no timeout and aci command completes successfully. It is requested to please suggest a suitable and reliable solution for this problem as the above two workarounds are not reliable.PS
Posted on June 21, 2017 at 11:55hi,i would like to know if there is any software for STEVAL-IDB007v1 BlueNRG1 as peripherial using SPI bus, tried DTM_SPI.hex but SPI seems not responsive.
Posted on June 14, 2017 at 12:07 Hi all. I'm having trouble connecting to AP with SPI mode. I tried to same network with putty and USB-to-UART cable and it connected fine (I only did ping over the connection, so not much). However with SPI it connects and drops it right away and repeats it forever. I program my board with st-link v2 programmer/debugger.Someone could help me to configure the debug options in these IDEs ?Thank you for the support.#steval-idb007v1 #bluenrg-1 #eclipse-debug #debug
Posted on June 14, 2017 at 14:43We've designed a product that uses the SPWF01SC + Sagrad antenna (as specified in the datasheet) and would like to consider migrating to the SPWF04SC + Sagrad antenna. Looking at the datasheets however, both modules have only been tested to EN 300 328 v1.9.1 whereas the new Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU) appears to require testing to the EN 300 328 v2.1.1 standards which include a new receiver blocking test.We wish to use the Sagrad antenna with the SPWF04SC and so would need to repeat the EN 300 328 tests to v2.1.1 with our board and the antenna. I noticed that there's an 'etf_mode' configuration variable available but no documentation as to what the engineering test functions are for different values of etf_mode. I've therefore got a few questions about getting our product through the compliance testing:1) Are the etf_modes documented anywhere or can you tell me what they should be set to in order to test the module under E
Posted on June 12, 2017 at 08:38Hi,is it possible to use a splitter to have two wifi antennas with the SPWF moduls? One antenna would be in side the housing, the second antenna shall have a cable with 1m length, e.g. http://www.teltonika.lt/de/product/wifi-antenna-5dbi-magnetic-type/ Using the modules u.fl connector and connect a cable with a SMA connector, then using a SMA splitter to connect the internal and the external antenna. Are there any experiences about this?BR,Flow
