Posted on August 07, 2017 at 13:57Hi forum,For my project, I use the STM32L0G6 MCU. My goal is to program the device, and then protect it against read-out, such that no copy of the firmware can be done.I also use the embedded bootloader ( see http://www.st.com/content/ccc/resource/technical/document/application_note/b9/9b/16/3a/12/1e/40/0c/CD00167594.pdf/files/CD00167594.pdf/jcr:content/translations/en.CD00167594.pdf & http://www.st.com/content/ccc/resource/technical/document/application_note/51/5f/03/1e/bd/9b/45/be/CD00264342.pdf/files/CD00264342.pdf/jcr:content/translations/en.CD00264342.pdf) to program the devices. Unfortunately, using read-out protection disables the GO command of the embedded bootloader. As my system always starts in bootloader mode, this means I cannot start my app.Do you know how to protect the device agains read-out + use STM's embedded bootloader?Kind regards,Jules.#embedded-bootloader #stm32l0 #read-out-protection

Posted on August 30, 2017 at 10:05HiNow I'm trying to implement USART to my STM32F10x KIT.Basically I use the KEIL uVision and I've build up with Pack Installer of uVision on STM32F10x.but I can't find USART(polling, Interrupt, DMA) example.I don't want to use to build up such as ''STM32CubeMX'' tools and such as HAL. How do I get USART(polling, Interrupt, DMA) example code? and tutorial?the following image shows that there is no any USART example codes.#usart #stm32f10 #example-usart #keil-examples #keil-uvision

Posted on August 30, 2017 at 08:34Hi.In order to implement STM32 USART (interrupt mode), so I've got STM32 USART (interrupt mode) Example file from herehttp://www.keil.com/download/docs/359.aspBut I've got a message from keil's uVision after build the project'stm32f10x_map.h(30): error: &sharp5: cannot open source input file 'stm32f10x_conf.h': No such file or directory'SO I've included relative file path into C/C++-> Include PATHbut still there is the lack of files. So I want to get project file within sanity check. How do I build up STM32 USART (interrupt mode) correctly? Posted on July 31, 2017 at 20:49Hello all,I have created a new PCB with a STM32F746ZG chip but the issue is that I am able to upload the GPIO IO Toggle example from the NucleoF746 folder but the LEDs do not blink after uploading. I have tried making my design similar to Nucleo-F746ZG.My design uses the following parts for the oscillators, which are different:   NX3225GD-8.000M-STD-CRA-3 with 15pf capacitors   NX3215SA-32.768K-STD-MUA-8 with 2pf capacitorsUsing the debugger, I am able to see that the chip is able to step through the code. I have probed the pins on the chip to see if there are any changes but so far there are none.So I was wondering if the oscillator has anything to with why the LED does or does not turn on. I do believe it is the hardware because I am testing the firmware with the nucleo, which currently works. I have accounted the firmware changes below so my PCB uses the external oscillator, which I hope I did correctly.  RCC_OscInitStru

Posted on October 29, 2016 at 17:48having a frustrating time with the new utilities, using an STM32F103RBT6 repeatedly getting a ''fail to save bin/hex'' type error when using ''Save As''. Didn't seem dependent on file name, and file name didn't clash with any other file or directory. Seems to be reading the firmware Ok, and can do a compare, etc. So not connectivity on the ST-LINK side, and probably unrelated to part#. Downgraded back to v3.9.0 and same filenames into same directories worked fine.

Posted on August 24, 2017 at 22:04HelloI'm about to start a project and the STM32F303ZE seems like a perfect part. I was reading through the Reference Manual and I found in the section 15.3.11 Channel selection (SQRx, JSQRx) that the ADC1 is connected to 4 internal analog inputs: ADC1_IN15 = VREFOPAMP1 = Reference Voltage for the Operational Amplifier 1 (in STM32F303xB/C and STM32F358xC) ADC1_IN16 = VTS = Temperature Sensor ADC1_IN17 = VBAT/2 = VBAT channel ADC1_IN18 = VREFINT = Internal Reference Voltage (also connected to ADC2_IN18, ADC3_IN18 and ADC4_IN18).And I don't know if it's a document error or if the ADC1 really does not have a connection to the VREFOPAMP1 on STM32F303xD/E parts. It's confusing because for example for ADC3 we read:ADC3_IN17 = VREFOPAMP3 = Reference Voltage for the Operational Amplifier 3 (in STM32F303xB/C/D/E and STM32F358C)And there is explicitly stated that the connection for ADC3 includes STM32F303xD/Eparts.Anyway, I'd like to

Posted on August 26, 2017 at 01:46I'm trying to configure an LSM6DSL device to provide the wrist tilt interrupt on INT2 and the inactivity interrupt on INT1.  The tilt interrupt appears to work fine.  With inactivity however, I see the interrupt when the part is inactive, but I get it again when it starts moving.  I feel that it is combining the wake up and inactivity interrupts together, but I have the wake up interrupt disabled. This is how I configure the registers after a reset (using CTRL3_C = 0x01):(general)CTRL1_XL (0x10) = 0x62(wrist tilt)CTRL10_C (0x19) = 0x84DRDY_PULSE_CFG_G (0x0B) = 0x81(inactivity)TAP_CFG (0x58) = 0xE0WAKE_UP_DUR (0x5C) = 0x02WAKE_UP_THS (0x5B) = 0x03MD1_CFG (0x5E) = 0x80With MD1_CFG set to 0x80 (only the INT1_INACT_STATE bit set, and the INT1_WU bit cleared) why would I see interrupts when the device is moved around?  Am I missing some register setting?Thanks,Angelo#lsm6dsl

Posted on August 28, 2017 at 16:06Hi ;I am so Glad ST has such a great communicative and creative community rather than the other semiconductor manufacturers .. It has been a while since I started to work with Cortex M3 cores ... Of course it is too normal to confront weird problems and having the excite of solving them but sometimes the codes may be really tiring to understand ... Here what I ran into lately ...There are two attachments in the topic and the code running inside is doing the most simple thing in the world .. On and OFF a GPIO pin .. But one of these projects has been initialized by CubeMX and the other one solely with Keil through 'New uVision Project Wizard ' ... I have measured the clock outputs of the both projects via MCO pin and they are really operating at 72MHZ .. But here it is ;While the project initialized with CubeMx has the IO pin toggling at 6 MHz with 82nS pulse width , the other one initialized directly Keil toggles at 3.130 Mhz with 151 nS pulse wi

Posted on August 26, 2017 at 16:06Hello Guys, I am using STM32F429IGT6 controller. I am using EWARM. recently my code size reached 1MB, so during download it gives error' writing outside flash memory at address 0x08100000'. But as the flash region is from 0x08000000-0x081fffff , it should actually allow me to use 2MB region. I also tried STM32 ST Link utility , but that says 'file size is bigger than flash size'.STM32F429 has 2MB Flash right? thn it should allow code size till 2MB. Then why it is not allowing?#stm32f429

Posted on April 11, 2017 at 09:41 Good Day Please help me understand if I am using the Polling Mode correctly for the ADC. I have not gone through the trouble of setting up DMA or Interrupts because these functions will hardly ever be used in my system. I have set up the ADC to convert 4 Channels for me, Channel 1, Channel5, VREFINT and Temperature sensor, like this: void MX_ADC_Init(void) { ADC_ChannelConfTypeDef sConfig; /**Configure the global features of the ADC (Clock, Resolution, Data Alignment and number of conversion) */ hadc.Instance = ADC1; hadc.Init.ClockPrescaler = ADC_CLOCK_ASYNC_DIV1; hadc.Init.Resolution = ADC_RESOLUTION_12B; hadc.Init.DataAlign = ADC_DATAALIGN_RIGHT; hadc.Init.ScanConvMode = ADC_SCAN_DIRECTION_FORWARD; hadc.Init.EOCSelection = ADC_EOC_SINGLE_CONV; hadc.Init.LowPowerAutoWait = DISABLE; hadc.Init.LowPowerAutoPowerOff = DISABLE; hadc.Init.ContinuousConvMode = DISABLE; //AJ 10Apr changed from ENabled hadc.Init.DiscontinuousConvMode =

Posted on August 23, 2017 at 16:50Hi!, I'm trying to do bring-up of a board that has the LSM6DSL and other sensors in its sensor hub. I can read and write to other registers except for CTRL10_C (19h) and MASTER_CONFIG (1Ah) which I can only read and they are in its default values. I want to write to above registers to activate he sensor hub functionality. Both sensors in LSM6DSL are in its default power-down status when I try to write to the mentioned registers. Could I be missing something else to be able to write to the registers? Thanks!

Posted on August 23, 2017 at 22:13I'm using an ARM-KEIL ULINKPro debugger on a custom board using the STM32L433 processor. There's a JTAG connector on the board, and I'm using a TC2050-IDC-050 20:10 cable from Tag-Connect, which was recommended by the owner of the firm. (and the connector is keyed, so I think I've got THAT right...).I've contacted the (remote) board designer, and he says everything looks OK on my end, but he's used the JTAG port with a Segger debugger, not one from ARM-KEIL. Given that he was able to program the boards before he shipped them to me, I have to think the JTAG port on the board works. When I attempt to flash the board, I get the red USB light and the blue COM light on the debugger, so at least (I think) the debugger is talking to USB. uVision also tells me the serial number of the device, too, so I'm pretty sure that's working. This makes me suspect the cable. Does anybody have any experience with this cable, or suggestions for another cable that will

Posted on August 10, 2017 at 08:47I am working on an application which requires interfacing an analog camera. I have choosed TI TVP5150AM1 to decode analog video to YCrCb 4:2:2 format and the scan format will be interlaced. As it has been mention here http://www.st.com/content/ccc/resource/training/technical/product_training/group0/90/5a/91/24/1a/14/4b/40/STM32F7_Peripheral_DCMI/files/STM32F7_Peripheral_DCMI.pdf/_jcr_content/translations/en.STM32F7_Peripheral_DCMI.pdf DCMI is capable of working with progressive scans, but I need to use it in interlaced scan. As it uses VSYNC signal to detect the end of a frame, seems doesn't care about count of lines (whether 625 or 312), but I need to make sure that it does work with interlaced scan.Does it work?P.S: Ah, I need to mention that I use odd/even frames as two seperate frames, therefore it is not required to combine odd and even frames into each other to reproduce the image.#interlaced #camera #analog #dcmi

Posted on August 22, 2017 at 04:23I'm experiencing strange behavior of QSPI peripheral (or may be flash chip itself -- N25Q128 in SO8; chips are not shiny new, but never used; datasheet Rev. 8 July 2014): despite what is stored in NVCR/VCR registers, number of dummy cycles is 10. Chip is 'fresh' from reel, datasheet says that chips are coming with  NVCR factory preprogrammed to 15 dummy cycles (0b1111) for maximum compatibility and maximum clock speed (108MHz). I've checked it - yes, NVCR is 0xFFFF (all '1's) as in datasheet, same as VCR.And then...Quad Command Fast Read (QCFR) has that dummy phase, so I'm writing 0xF to QUADSPI->CCR.DCYC and expecting that i will get my data intact. But instead of this i see that data output is somehow shifted in time for some fixed number of clocks, independent of clock frequency (I've checked this on 108MHz and 1MHz, even with maximum prescaler factor). By using empirical approach I've found that actual number of dummy cycles is not 15, but

Posted on August 22, 2017 at 10:11More specifically we are interested in the AES256-GCM algorithm on STM32F777.Looking at the User Manual (http://www.st.com/content/ccc/resource/technical/document/user_manual/group0/f9/6e/f2/a2/b4/ec/49/c0/DM00215061/files/DM00215061.pdf/jcr:content/translations/en.DM00215061.pdf ) I conclude that for the STM32F756 the crypto hardware is used when using the STM32AccHwCryptoV3.1.0_Xy_C_O.a library. However, if I look at the actual software (library and headers) I get confused:The STM32_Crypto library (not HW accelerated) has a Inc/AES/GCM/aes_gcm.h header. The STM32_Crypto_AccHw variant does not include any header for GCM but Inc/AES/AccHw_aes.h contains the following:&sharpifdef INCLUDE_AccHw_GCM&sharpinclude 'GCM/AccHw_aes_gcm.h'&sharpendifA header with this filename does not ship with the libraries.Does anyone have experience with AES-GCM on a STM32 with crypto accelerator?Best regards,M#aes-256 #crypto #stm32-crypto-lib #stm32f7 #aes

Posted on August 23, 2017 at 17:23Hello,I have some doubts with understanding and configuration of specific FMC modes. May I kindly ask you to check if my intentions are correct? We have STM32F767 connected to our proprietary memory-mapped periphery (FPGA what can emulate anything) through FMC. We have connected full address bus and 16bit data bus and all possible control signals. We would like to FMC behave like it has 32b for data access (from point of view of firmware). It is possible with this hardware connection? I know there can be software workaround where you access 32b word with two 16b acces operations.According to reference manual table 63 ('NOR Flash/PSRAM: example of supported memories and transactions') there are examples for 32b AHB data size. I couldnt find any specific information about timing and waveforms so I think this operation is just internally (automatically) splitted into 2 FMC accesses - for example when I use 32bit pointer to virtual memory where FMC is mappe
