Hello everyone, I am trying to measure how much time is used to finish executing a function. I cannot use the timers because it adds some delay to the system. My other option is to use GPIO pins.To do this, ISET a pin at the start of the functionRESET a pin at the end of the functionI then use an oscilloscope to measure the on off time of the pin. In order to turn on and off the GPIO without too much delay, I have used assembly code to ensure just a few instructions are used for enable and disable the GPIO. void HAL_ADC_ConvCpltCallback(ADC_HandleTypeDef* hadc) //called every 4 us. { __asm__ volatile ( //turn on GPIO E2 "LDR R1, =0x40021014;" "LDR R0, [R1];" "ORR.W R0, #0x0004;" //only set pin 2 "STR R0, [R1];" //write data to memory   //write data to data memory "LDR R3, =0xD0007260;" "LDR R2, [R3];" "LDR R2,=0xFF000000;" "STR R2, [R3];" //write data to memory     //turn off GPIO E2 //"LDR R5, =0x40021014;" //"LDR R4, [R5];" "AND.W R0, #0xFFF

Hi,I am trying to use a STEVAL_PCC009V2 board connected to a EVAL6474H board to drive a stepper motor.When I run the SPIN eval software I get a notice that the firmware is not the latest and I need to update it. I just ordered the board, but it shows as FW0.0. I have a ST-Link/V2 to program with, so I downloaded the IBUUI Board Updater, but it fails when I start the program with an error installing IBUUI.inf driver and exits.I need to get this up and running ASAP so I can use it to move a stepper motor to evaluate the L6474.

I have just installed STM32CubeMonitor as an alternative to STM32Studio since I am no longer using Windows. I have been a happy user of STM32Studio but have been frustrated with the lack of Linux support, so I was excited to see that STM32CubeMonitor supported Linux.Unfortunately my first experience with it did not meet my expectations.I have not been able to load an ELF file since the ELF parser gets stuck at 25% (see the attached picture)After manually entering the addresses I was able to view the data but only at a slow sample/refresh rate of what appears to be 10 Hz or less. I tried to modify the Sampling Frequency in the Variables node but this did not seem to have any effect.Finally I would also like to ask about why both the Probe Out and Probe In is needed when you only want to do acquisition (input). Why is the Probe Out needed?Best regardsThomas Jespersen

Hi everyone!This is my first time with I2C on the STM32 platform so I may be missing something trivial.I'm using an STM32WB55RG and I'm trying to use an Adafruit IS31FL3731, which works with I2C.I ported the Arduino library (https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_IS31FL3731/blob/master/Adafruit_IS31FL3731.cpp) using the HAL functions.If I use blocking functions, everything works, but if I try to use DMA for non-blocking code, the program gets stuck on HAL_I2C_STATE_BUSY_TX after having called HAL_I2C_Master_Transmit_DMA.I've searched a bit and tried different solutions but none of them work. What's wrong with the code?Thanks in advanceMatteo Iervasi

Hello, everyone!As I was following the polling example on GitHub with the STM32 drivers for the LSM9DS1. I noticed that, during the configuration, reading the Accelerometer & Gyroscope registers, the WHO_AM_I read value was 0x28h, instead of 0x68h. The reading of the magnetometer correspondent register (WHO_AM_I_M) returns the expected value(0x3Dh).After a few tests on altering the code, I noticed that I had to read it twice in order to get a correct reading, exactly as follows:lsm9ds1_id_t whoamI; lsm9ds1_dev_id_get(&dev_ctx_mag, &dev_ctx_imu, &whoamI); lsm9ds1_dev_id_get(&dev_ctx_mag, &dev_ctx_imu, &whoamI); if (whoamI.imu != LSM9DS1_IMU_ID || whoamI.mag != LSM9DS1_MAG_ID){ while(1){ return 0; } }I tryed also adding a delay between the the initialization of the device and the register read process (up to 2 seconds), to no avail. Here, I was hoping that there was the need for a Boot Time in order to get a correct reading, but that seems to not be the ca

What is ST system bootloader address. I want to jump the application code to system uart bootloader as the boot pin is not available as of now.Thanks@Winfred LU  @Eleon BORLINI

SFRs windows can't display value dynamically. You should do "refresh Svd data" manually. How to display peripheral register's value dynamically?Thanks.

Hello,I am measuring execution time of a function that operates with floating point numbers and noticed that it is more than I expect. I am using Nucleo F429ZI, clock is configured to the 50 MHz. For measuring the execution time I use TIM6 configured in the following way: TIM6->PSC = 49; TIM6->ARR = 0xFFFF; TIM6->CNT = 0;For the test, I am measuring the time for which the following statement is processed:float a = 1.3; float b = 0.0007; float c = 1.0; float d = 12.25;   TIM6->CNT = 0; TIM6->CR1 |= 1; c += (a - b) * d; TIM6->CR1 &= ~1;TIM6->CNT shows 28 microseconds. Disassembly is:100 c += (a - b) * d; 08000548: vldr s14, [r7, #20] 0800054c: vldr s15, [r7, #16] 08000550: vsub.f32 s14, s14, s15 08000554: vldr s15, [r7, #8] 08000558: vmul.f32 s15, s14, s15 0800055c: vldr s14, [r7, #12] 08000560: vadd.f32 s15, s14, s15According to ARM, the total execution time for this instructions should be 11 cycles (according to CYCCNT they are 15).The point that I am c

I follow the same approach with the magic value 0x94448A29 and so on.Burning firmware + bootloader works ok, also I can jump to the bootloader using the SRAM1_BASE address to write the reset type.The problem is that sometimes I got errors writing to the flash.HAL_FLASH_GetError() returns 0x00000008.This is the loop that writes the flash.while (i <= diff2) { diff = end - from; ////snprintf(buffer, 64, "%d of %d 0x%08x\n", diff, diff2,Address); ////DEBUG(buffer); while (LL_FLASH_IsActiveFlag_OperationSuspended());   //Create an uint64_t little endian int k; uint64_t val = 0; for (k = 7; k >= 0; --k) { val <<= 8; val |= (uint64_t) from[k]; }   uint32_t retries = 3; //in case of error do { uint32_t ret = HAL_FLASH_Program(FLASH_TYPEPROGRAM_DOUBLEWORD, Address, val);   switch (ret) { case HAL_OK: retries = 0; break; case HAL_TIMEOUT: DEBUG("Timeout!\n"); retries--; break; case HAL_ERROR: snpr

Is there a way to enforce a coding standard in STMIDE with some text highlighting?i.e: "function names should be Function_Name()" etc. What rules does STM use for their generated libraries in this case? Does anyone recommend some plugins for this? What standards are others trying to follow when writing their code?

Hi there,First of all, thank you for reading this post. I have a system that has an ARM Cortex M4 MCU interfacing with STM32G4 via SPI. In the current design, STM32G4 takes care of motor commutation related tasks. So the question I have is that who should be the SPI master/slave? Or does it really matter? My hunch is to have STM32G4 as the master since it has more time critical tasks; however, the tasks are based on what the other MCU's commands.The other ARM M4 MCU (32bit) is fairly powerful too, running at 100MHz. The main tasks in this MCU are to initiate communications with other devices in the system, and tell STM32G4 when and how to run the motors.I did some research online hoping to get some ideas regarding SPI Master/Slave role assignment, but I was not able to find anything useful.Thanks again for the advice, in advance.Sincerely,

Hello, i downloaded st25r3916 discovery source files from here https://www.st.com/content/st_com/en/products/embedded-software/st25-nfc-rfid-software/stsw-st25r011.html . The sources actually don't compile because a lot of includes are missing, i opened project file located in "\STSW-ST25R011\ST25R3916_DISCO_v1.1.0\Projects\ST25-Discovery\Demonstrations\ST25R3916Demo\TrueSTUDIO\ST25R3916-DISCO\.project" with STM32CubeIDE. Is there a guide to import such files? If i import just the includes needed (and it involves a whole lot of work because they are so many), a lot of files with the same name but different content are imported, leading to errors.Thank you very much,RegardsHere's the error log12:42:33 **** Build of configuration Debug for project ST25R3916-DISCO Firmware **** make all arm-none-eabi-gcc "C:/ST25R3916_DISCO_v1.1.0/Middlewares/ST/p2p/lib_llcp.c" -mcpu=cortex-m4 -std=gnu11 -g3 -DUSE_HAL_DRIVER '-DUSE_MB1414_B=1' '-DMCU_FW_VERSION_EXTRA=B' '-DRFAL_ANALOG_CONFIG_CUSTOM=1' -D

I've read in RM that, when running on 64 MHz it has 2 wait states, meaning that 1 cycle instructions execution takes actually 3 cycles. If I understand this correctly, that means that the effective speed is actually 21.3 MHz? What use is there using 64 MHz then? Or there is parallel pipelines for instruction execution? What is then effective speed, if there are two pipelines?

On the NUCLEO-L031K6 documents page, there is a zipfile containing ST Nucleo Schematics. Unfortunately, these schematics are for a different Nucleo board. Could I get a link to the correct pdf schematic for the NUCLEO-L031K6 so I can see the MCU pinout?

Hello! I am trying to add a button to my application manually through code. I thought it would be quite simple, but for some reason I am having some difficulties.I have added it my screenView class, and initialised it using bitmapped images from the TouchGFX library.It displays on screen correctly, but does not respond to any touches. I would expect at this point for the image on screen to change when I press it.I have added other buttons from the designer, that are responding correctly. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong? Is there something I am not initialising correctly that links the button to TouchGFX engine?I'm embarrassed to say that this has stumped me for several hours now! Thank you.screenView.hpp:#ifndef SCREENVIEW_HPP #define SCREENVIEW_HPP   #include <gui_generated/screen_screen/screenViewBase.hpp> #include <gui/screen_screen/screenPresenter.hpp> #include <touchgfx/widgets/Button.hpp>   class screenView : public screenViewBase { pub

Hi, guys.Here is short description of my project:I have an ADC, that samples data via one regular channel and result sended via DMA. This DMA are working in Normal mode, so after DMA compete its transmission I processed received data and then enable next ADC conversion via restarting DMA.For DMA I enable one interrupt TC and also enable DMA interrupt in NVIC. At the beginning its working fine, but after some time (after 209 calls of IRQ handler for DMA) DMA interrupt does not triggered.In my project I also enable several more interrupts - interrupt from another DMA, interrupt from 2 different Timers, USB interrupts and SysTick interrupts. So I think it might be some problem with interrupts priority, but when I change the priority of required DMA, nothing change. Does anybody have a clue what is going on?Here is some code from my project. I use SPL for this projectADC & DMA initialisation:static void ADC_DriverInit(void) { ADC_InitTypeDef ADC_InitStructure = { 0 }; ADC_CommonInitT

Ultimately, I would like to know where I2C commands are described in order to re-write my own I2C R/W function according to my hardware. First I woud like to play with the entire API to get familiar with it. The file ranging_sensor_comms.h is not included in the STM32 53L3A2 expansion board software. The vl53lx_platform.c is completely re-written,and the project only uses this file frome the API and none of the other files. Thank you for your help

Hi There,I am trying to run the ethernet example from the 1.7.0 version of the STM32H7 firmware at STM32Cube_FW_H7_V1.7.0\Projects\NUCLEO-H743ZI\Applications\LwIP\LwIP_HTTP_Server_Netconn_RTOS.The only modifications I have performed from the provided example code is I have disabled DHCP to use a static IP address (#define LWIP_DHCP 0).I am trying to run this on the Nucleo-H743ZI2 development board and I cannot get any response to ping. If I attach the debugger, I can see the STM32 is receiving ARP requests and trying to send out ARP responses. Additionally, if I probe the TXD0/TXD1/TXEN lines on the 8742A PHY chip I can see the lines moving periodically in response to ARP queries. Duration looks good, but I have not parsed out the individual bits.I have tried this on multiple boards, and additionally on a custom STM32H753x board all with the same behavior.I have also followed all advice here in this page https://community.st.com/s/article/FAQ-Ethernet-not-working-on-STM3

I'm using 'STM32F103RCT' and been create a HID Custom keyboard.I want to know the states of 'Num Lock', 'Insert' and 'Caps Lock' etc on the HID keyboard's computer.Because it has to be checked with LED.lighting the LED is essential when connecting to the computer.How do I know the state of the computer?Reading the computer's state is the difficult problem.

I am working on a project using the STM32L476RG microcontroller and have run into an issue with using the ADC in differential configuration. When using the ADC configured as differential the output from the ADC is the same as if it was configured as a single-ended channel, meaning it contains a DC-offset of 1/2 VDD and is 1/2 my expected amplitude. To further explore this I have tested several things:Scoped the input to both channels of the ADC and can confirm both channels' AFE are operational and sampling noise is present on both channelsConfigured the ADC as singled eneded for both the positive and negative channel (ADC1 IN 5 and 6). Both of these outputs are similar to the differential configured version.Sampled both channels and in software created a pesudo-differential configuation where I subtract channel 6 from channel 5 before logging. Set the device to debug and checked on in the ADC SFR for the diffsel bit. The bit has been set correctly. Some background on the steup I am us

Hi, I'm using STM32L4R5ZI nucleo board for my thesis project. But I have a problem doing a very easy thing: read an ADC conversion value. The program do just this: read the value and sends it over usart. The program does this:HAL_ADCEx_Calibration_Start(&hadc1, ADC_SINGLE_ENDED); while (1) { HAL_ADC_Start(&hadc1); if(HAL_ADC_PollForConversion(&hadc1, 1000) == HAL_OK){ raw = HAL_ADC_GetValue(&hadc1); sprintf(msg, "%hu\r\n",raw); } else sprintf(msg, "ERR\r\n"); HAL_UART_Transmit(&hlpuart1, msg, strlen(msg), HAL_MAX_DELAY); HAL_Delay(1000); }I've done this with different boards and I've never had this problem. If I debug the program it is stucked in the HAL_ADC_PollForConversion function, in particular in this loop:while ((hadc->Instance->ISR & tmp_Flag_End) == 0UL){ //... }This is my ADC configuration

Hi, My project is on a Stm32H7 I'm using freeRTOS and LWIp. For testing I'm using a sample project generated by cubemx and http_netconn web server.When I generated the project with cubemx 5.6.1 it's working good.With CubeMx 6.0.1 http request are receive but data's are send very slowly and it fail.I checked a lot of parameters but I don't find any difference. If someone could help me ?ThanksValentin

When I open my first project, I get a message saying that firmware must be upgraded. I clic the button 'migrate'. It works a long time. If I go to the project parameter, it is still the old firmware. And if I quit cubemx and restart it with the same project (I have only one !), I get again the message.What do I miss ?JeanPS images underneath are in the wrong order ...

Hi,I'm developing an USB-C sink, using dead battery feature.I have respective CCx pins connected to DBCCx pins and the source can successfully power the sink.However, when the UCPD code starts running, the source disconects the 5V, effectively resulting in an endless power cycle.I have powered the board externally and connected trough the STM32G0 Discovery in spy mode to have some trace capability. Attached you'll find the trace dump. I'm using lastest version of the libraries, followed the AN5418 to the letter... I can confirm the vbus sensing is correctly working.I have tried as a source both a pc and an usb-c wall charger. Same behaviour...The same occours also if i disconnect the DBCCx pins and use an external power supply for the 3.3v...Anybody has some ideas why this is happening?Any help will be immensely appreciated!
