STM32CubeIDE user interface fell apart

Hi Gents,

Something weird is going on my computer since a long while, but it gets very annoying as I work with more on this computer. If I open a .ioc file, or do anything in STM32CubeIDE that will bring up a non-eclypse dialog, the GUI misbehaves in a very weird way. Best example is if I go to Software Packs -> Select Components menu - it becames absolutely unusable, every time I open it up. I attached a file where you can see, how the window looks like after scrolling the list or open up a dropdown item.

This happens, when e.g.

  • Working with .ioc files, especially its dialogs, but sometimes in the pinout and clock configuration tabs too
  • Select Components dialog

This doesn't happens when e.g.

  • Opening project properties window
  • In the Target Selector

Note, that eclypse dialogs, even if contain "ST elements" like drop-downs, text fields, etc, does not produce this error. If a dialog is fully ST based, this happens.

Also, I tried the followings:

  • Re-install STM32CubeIDE - no resolution
  • Install an older version - no resolution
  • Update Java - no resolution
  • Update graphics card drivers (AMD) - no resolution
  • Replace graphics card -> Intel - this worked, however, the whole system became very unstable...
  • Replace graphics card -> Geforce RTX - no resolution

Further notes:

  • If a dialog is distorted, resizing it will restore the dialog. But every time I interact something, it became distorted again. Continuously resizing helps, but not effective....
  • If two Select Components dialog is opened in two STM32CubeIDEs, the dialog, opened for the last, is working perfectly (please don't tell that hell yeah, this is the solution! :face_with_rolling_eyes: )

Apparently it has something to do with the graphics card / driver, but I have no idea anymore, how to go further. I use STM32CubeIDE on 3 other computers with no issue.

The configuration I use:

  • Windows 11
  • STM32CubeIDE Version: 1.14.0

Thank you for your support!

Hi,

"The puzzled windows problem" is not really "new" , but afaik until now no solution by STM .

...and many more .

Sometimes seems to help, if graphics text or icon size is changed; or using only one screen, if two been used.
