Move from MCU forums: STM32MP25 are MPUs - not MCUsHello Experts, I am using STM32MP257F-DK board and trying to bring up the board with starter package. I followed the steps as mentioned in this link - https://wiki.st.com/stm32mpu/wiki/STM32MP25_Discovery_kits_-_Starter_PackageThe starter package that I have downloaded and flashed - en.FLASH-stm32mp2-openstlinux-6.6-yocto-scarthgap-mpu-v24.11.06.tar.gzI was able to flash the SD card successfully as mentioned in section 6.(Note that I have taken care of boot switches accordingly)However, when I restart the board for booting, seems there are issues and does not stop at login prompt. Instead stops or boots in loop. Attaching 2 logs with 2 instances of reset. Kindly help to review and suggest work around if have missed any steps.~R
Is it possible to build OpenSTDroid for STM32MP157F? If anyone tried, could you please share the instructions on the build and any learnings would be helpful.

Will the Linux driver for stm32mp257 automatically set the MAC address based on the chip UID?Or do users need to set it themselves? Why is the MAC address printed using dmesg different from the hardware address obtained from the command?Thank you, looking forward to your reply~
HelloWe are currently working with the STM32MP257F-DK board and attempting to toggle the GPIO pins on Port Z. However, we have observed that the mode of the pins in GPIO Z remains in Analog mode, even when we attempt to overwrite it. Notably, the other GPIO ports are functioning as expected. We would appreciate your guidance on how to properly activate GPIO Port Z and toggle a pin on this port Thanks & RegardsAkshitha Pattem
quote from hardware development application note -"VDD3V3_USBHS must not be present unless VDDA1V8_REG is present, otherwise permanentSTM32MP15x lines damage can occur. It must be ensured by PMIC ranking order or withexternal component in case of discrete component power-supply implementation."this seems to contradict that (another quote) - "VDD3V3_USBFS is used to supply OTG_VBUS and OTG_ID (PA10) pins. Therefore,VDD3V3_USBFS must be supplied as well when USB high-speed dual-role-port or USBhigh-speed device is used. If not used, it must be connected to VDD."along with quote - "VDD_DSI, VDD_PLL and VDD_ANA must be connected to VDD" so essentially VDD= VDD_DSI = VDD3V3_USBFS = VDD3V3_USBHS Then VDD3V3_USBHS WILL be 3.3V before VDDA1V8_REG is 1.8V will it not? what i am essentially asking about is whether or not i can avoid having to use a whole other buck converter just to be able to supply VDD3V3_USBHS later after VDDA1V8_REG has reached 1.8V

Dear all,In the STM32MP135 series reference manual, the following is stated about the CRYP module:• Compliant implementation of the following standards: – NIST FIPS publication 46-3, Data Encryption Standard (DES) – ANSI X9.52, Triple Data Encryption Algorithm Modes of Operation – NIST FIPS publication 197, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)Have these implementations been certified by any third party laboratory, and is it possible to obtain the necessary evidence to ensure the certification of a product using this module?Thank you very much and best regards
The DSI can be transformed to HDMI using the ADV7535BCBZ chip. My question is: Will I be able to see the boot screen at startup directly when the HDMI is plugged in and Linux is booting? Or must Linux start the DSI later after the booting process? This is for the STM32MP257FAK.

Hi all,I would like to ask for your support regarding an issue I’m facing when trying to bring up a 24-bit RGB panel using the LTDC interface. When using an LVDS panel, the display works correctly and powers on as expected. However, when switching to an RGB panel, I’m unable to get any display output — the screen remains blank.I have already disabled the LVDS configuration when switching to RGB, but it had no effect.Additionally, I’ve tried adjusting the CK_KER_LTDC (MHz) setting in the Clock Configuration. When I check clk_summary, I can confirm that the LTDC clock has been updated. However, this change causes the backlight to turn off, and the system is unable to detect the panel.Even after modifying the clock-frequency property in the Device Tree for the LTDC node, the change does not take effect. Moreover, these clock changes appear to interfere with I2S audio playback via aplay — audio becomes unstable or stops working entirely.Could you please advise how I might resolve this issue o
We have developed a board in which STM32MP151FAD1 or STM32MP157FAD1 is being used. I know that STM32MP15x has two device revisions, B and Z. Either STM32MP151FAD1 or STM32MP157FAD1 on the board has device revision Z, which does not have eMMC boot problem that device revision B has. Now we are going to purchase some STM32MP153FAD1 chips, but we are not sure if the chips are revision B or revision Z. The chip distributor won't provide any information about the chip's revision. Does STM32MP153FAD1 also have revision B and revision Z?
Hi,I am trying to configure the STM32MP257FAI3 device in STM32CubeIDE, but I’m encountering the following error:"The target device 'STM32MP257FAIx' is currently not supported by STM32CubeIDE."Could you please advise on how to proceed or if there is a planned update to support this device in the IDE?Looking forward to your guidance. Thank you
Hello,I plan to use a MP2 on a SOM module (probably something like the KaRo QFN-like QSMP2 module). This MP will run a linux on the A35 core and real-time software on the M33, + USB2, ETH 100 Mbps.I need 11 ADC channels to convert analog signals at 500kSPS. There is enough ADC input to do that at the required sample rate but what about noise ?The datasheet claims ~9.3bits of ENOB, this the enough BUT I suppose that obviously, this is in the best case.Activating LPDDR4 + USB2 + ETH will generate a lot of board noise and will probably degrade the ADC ENOB. But how much ?Does anyone experienced some noise measurement on MP1/MP2 device with DDR and hi-speed IF activated ?Thanks for the feedback !
Hi everyone, recently we have developed a custom board based on stm32mp157 mpu. We have used openstlinux distribution and the branch is "kirkstone". Ethernet is working perfectly on the Linux kernel. But problem arises when I am in the uboot mode (We want to have access to the ethernet from uboot). First, the ethernet can not find the mac address. It shows the following Error: invalid MAC address 0 in OTP 00:00:00:00:00:00 Error: ethernet@5800a000 address not set. No ethernet found. The I set the ethernet mac address using the "setenv" command and then I enter dhcp command to test the ethernet connection, it shows the following error: EQOS_DMA_MODE_SWR stuck FAILED: -110 in stm32mp157 for u-boot I have the following configuration for the ethernet in uboot device tree. &ethernet0{ pinctrl-names = "default", "sleep"; pinctrl-0 = <&eth1_pins_mx>; pinctrl-1 = <&eth1_sleep_pins_mx>; status ="okay"; /* USER
Hi there,I update the device tree of usart6 of STM32MP257F-DK as below but do not know if it was enabled during kernel.Is it ttySTM0 or ttySTM1 or did not enable and how to check? &usart6 {pinctrl-names = "default", "idle", "sleep";pinctrl-0 = <&usart6_pins_a>;pinctrl-1 = <&usart6_idle_pins_a>;pinctrl-2 = <&usart6_sleep_pins_a>;uart-has-rtscts;status = "okay";}
The board seems to be very selective on the power provided on the STLINK port. Even with an USB 2.0 external powered hub, it often does not power on. The board seems to need 5V/3A. That would mean a USB C Hub, (USB 3.0 Type A max is 0.9A) or using USB C port on a host to power to also have access to the debug UART . Another solution would have been a split cable for the STLINK port with one end to power the board and the other to the host. The manual states a USB C to A cable is needed but it a bit vague about STLINK it needs a USB-C host.USB A 3.0 is only 0.9A max and it seems not enough (at least for initial power on). Some USB C to A (brand new) cables won't power on the board connected to the STLINK connector and some others do, that even with a type A USB 5A power charger. Some different LED conditions occur in this case.1. LD5 RED blinking and others off.2. LD5 and LD6 always on REDCould not find these status on the manual. What do these
I just recently unboxed and connected up my STM32MP257F-DK and am trying to follow a simple blink LED project. (https://wiki.st.com/stm32mcu/wiki/STM32StepByStep:Step2_Blink_LED).My boot pins are 0011 (in Development Mode) since I don't want to boot up in Linux, just work with the M33 Core. My LEDs when I connect up my board to my computer are: LD11 is solid green, LD5 is solid red, KD6 is solid green, and LD7 is solid red. I've been having issues with the debugger and flashing. My project builds fine with no warnings or errors but when I run with debugger I get this on my Console: STMicroelectronics ST-LINK GDB server. Version 7.10.0 Copyright (c) 2025, STMicroelectronics. I am trying to flash the bootable image onto the STM32MP157D-DK1 device. The image I’m using is the latest version available on the OpenSTLinux Starter Package download page. I am using the STM32CubeProgrammer tool on both Windows and Linux, and every time I try, I receive the same error message at the same partition during installation — approximately at 20% of the installation of partition 0x12. Hello ST team and community,Why doesn’t ST provide the necessary internal pin length information for DDR layout in an official and accessible way — such as in the datasheet, an application note, or any other verified documentation?Currently, the only resource available is an Excel table listing signal names, not pin names, and as far as I can tell, it’s based on an Altium reference design. While it's theoretically possible to map signal names to actual pins, there is no reliable way to verify this mapping — especially since the Excel file isn't an official part of the datasheet or app notes. This makes accurate DDR layout challenging, especially for length matching, where precise internal pin delay data is critical.I kindly ask ST to provide official documentation that includes internal pin lengths clearly referenced by actual pin names, not just signal names. This would make DDR layout far more reliable and would prevent design issues caused by guesswork or reverse-engineering unofficia
How to cross compile the KERNEL driver in host PC , and where to find the kernel source in build file , sample Makefile for the make , my target is :STM32MP257f-ev1
Hi,I’m using the STM32MPU157x-DK2 development board and would like to power it externally, either using a battery or a different power source (not USB Type-C).Could you please help with the following:What are the recommended ways to provide external power, such as via a Li-ion/LiPo battery or regulated 5V supply? Can I use the 5V input on the CN6 (EXP connector) to power the board?Should I disconnect USB-C when supplying external power to avoid conflict? Are there any voltage/current limitations, or specific battery protection requirements I should consider?Do I need to change any configuration settings on the board to enable external power or battery supply?
Moved to the MPUs section - STM32MP25 is an MPU, not an MCU. HI, I AM NEW TO THIS COMMUNITY, I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE WORKING AND HOW TO USE THIS, I HAD FEW QUERIES ABOUT THE OPENSTLINUX AND STM32CUBEIDE, MX. I THINK SOME WHOSE GONNA HELP ME TO GET SOME KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THIS BAORD. THE MAIN CONTENT OF MESSAGE I NEED TO BUIL A PROJECT WHERE I CAN READ THE SENSOR DATA AND THE DATA SHOULD BE SEND TO THE DISPLAY TO SHOW. IF SOMEONE REALLY WANT TO GUIDE ME, PLEASE DROP A TEXT TO ME GIVEN BELOW DETAILS EMAIL: <removed by moderation> thank you, T.sahith
Dear ST Community,Thank you for taking the time to read my question. We are encountering the following challenges while developing a dual-core project for the STM32MP257 using STM32CubeIDE:ELF Flashing Issue on Linux Side:We aim to develop M33 core code independently in STM32CubeIDE and flash the compiled M33 .elf firmware from the Linux side. However, during flashing, we receive an ICA (Inter-Core Authentication) error (see attached Figure 1).OpenAMP Configuration Problem:After referring to tutorials (such as those from "正点原子" on Bilibili, though their demonstrations were for MP157), we realized we needed to enable OpenAMP in STM32CubeMX. However, upon enabling OpenAMP in our MP257 project, we encountered compilation errors due to missing header files (see Figure 2).Questions:Could this issue stem from incorrect STMCubeIDE base configurations (e.g., toolchain paths or package selection)?Alternatively, is there a known procedure for flashing M33 .elf files from Linux that we might have
I saw one other post on this but it isn't clear anyone was actually successful putting chromium for Wayland on successfully with hardware acceleration. I'm able to get it to load but it's very slow and the chrome://GPU makes it seem unlikely.Fwiw I'm using poky with the meta-st layer instead of stopenlinux. I'm using core-image-weston. It does not complain about the Eula not being accepted so curious if that's a hint? Most things I read discuss chromium 101 instead of the most recent release but I think that's more imx8 related. I am using the stm32mp157-dk2.
