Summary

This overview helps build a PCB design. ST recommends the following resources for the design. See the list below for ST resources that support the design.

AN Documents

Getting started application notes, with generic examples and tips

AN5031: Getting started with STM32MP151, STM32MP153 and STM32MP157 line hardware development
AN5474: Getting started with STM32MP13x line hardware development
AN5489: Getting started with STM32MP25x MPUs hardware development
AN6055: Getting started with STM32MP21x MPUs hardware development

The PCB layout guidelines

AN5431: The STPMIC1 PCB layout guidelines
AN5122: STM32MP1 series DDR memory routing guidelines
AN5992: DDR memory routing guidelines for STM32MP13x product lines
AN5724: Guidelines for DDR memory routing on STM32MP2 MPUs

Soldering

AN2639: Soldering recommendations and package information for lead-free ECOPACK MCUs and MPUs

Schematics - sanity check list

This list, attached below, provides checkpoints for aspects that require verification because errors occur frequently. The documents cover topics such as power supply domains, system control signals (reset line, wake-up pins, and clocks between the microprocessor unit (MPU) and STPMIC), flash boot device configurations, the USB subsystem, Ethernet, and other topics.

These links are also available on the STM32MPU page of the ST website, under HW model in the CAD resources tab.

ST recommends reusing the ST design examples below. Signal and power integrity tests were run to help achieve an optimal design.

The Altium® projects of the ST references boards

The list of existing STM32MPx demo boards is available on the ST wiki page:

To find the Altium® projects on each board page of the ST website, see the CAD resources tab.

Alternatives

Depending on customer competencies and product quantities, customers can contact ST partners.

The list of partners is available on st.com through the microprocessor unit (MPU) product page or through the following links:

ST also recommends reading about system-on-module (SOM) or system-in-package (SiP) offers.
