ST25 NFC/RFID tags and readers

Posted on June 08, 2017 at 16:23Dear SupportI am using the M24SR64 on a Mikroe 1726 board. The board has NO power to it and we are using the RFID energy to power the chip. We wrote an NFC app for a smart phone and the App and everything works OK most the time but what we are finding that 1 in 20 - 30 times the M24SR64 chip locks out and the system data and memory data can not be read and we are unable to write to the chip afterwards. We find the only way to recover is simply use the ST25 NFC App to read and then write any characters back. is it possible you can advise us data messages and commands you use in the ST25 NFC App?We found the problem appears to exist with Android 5.Also are you aware of this problem?Thanks

Posted on May 24, 2017 at 17:35Hi,Designing an NFC enabled product, and just wondering what your views are on radio compliance when using an M24x (or similar NFC tag IC).Although the tag is considered passive it will be designed/integrated into a product. So I guess in that instance the product must be assessed against the radio directive with a representative NFC reader?I would assume article 3.2 of R&TTE would have been relevant (which will be repealed on 13th June this year) would have to be adhered to, but as a passive tag a representative reader would also be necessary for the test. (Phone etc).Thanks,Teddy.

Posted on May 18, 2017 at 17:51Hi all,In my application I am using M24SR02 where the same part of the chip is being read through NFC and I2C interface at the same time. NFC reader is working in infinite loop and does two things:1) Reads 0x10 bytes from 0x0097 offset2) Issues SendInterrupt command to toggle GPO pin on M24SR02MCU that is driving I2C interface does the following in infinite loop:1) waits for GPO toggle2) issues KillRFsession command over I2C3) issues NDEF Tag Application Select,  NDEF Select commands4) Issues ReadBinary command to read 0x02 bytes from 0x0000 offset to get NDEF message length. The returned length is 0xE55) Finally issues ReadBinary command to read 0x10 bytes from 0x0097 offset.Most of the time ReadBinary works fine returning correct data. Sometimes it returns 0x6A 0x86 status meaning 'Incorrect P1 or P2 values' even if ReadBinary command is always the same (checked with oscilloscope). The same thing happens when I use ExtendedRead

Posted on May 18, 2017 at 11:28Hi all,In my application I am talking to M24SR02 chip over I2C with 100kHz clock. The problem I am having is with ReadBinary command. In the application I issue exactly the same ReadBinary command over and over again - reading 0x10 bytes from offset 0x0097. NDEF message length is set to 0x00E5 in two first bytes of NDEF file in M24SR02. During operation I am not changing the contents of NFC chip, just read it over and over again. Most of the time ReadBinary works fine returning correct values from M24SR02 memory, however sometimes exactly the same command returns 0x6A 0x86 error ('Incorrect P1 or P2 values'). Then after that point re-issuing the same ReadBinary command returns the same error forever. If after receiving and error I change the offset in command to say 0x0000, then everything goes back to normal and ReadBinary works again. I've checked I2C traffic of the offending packet with the scope and I can see that the command sent to M24SR02 is

Posted on April 19, 2017 at 10:37Hi everybody, I would like to use my CR95HF reader in a Qt quick application (on Windows computer). For that I tried to include the CR95HF.dll and the CR95HF.h in my project. For that I paste the two files on my Qt project folder and include my dll in my .pro like that:   LIBS += -L'./CR95HF.dll'And the header file in my main.cpp like that:  &sharpinclude <./CR95HF.h>The both files are corretly find. My problem is the 'HidManager.h'. Indeed this file is not find by the header file.Maybe I need to past these files in another place ?Does anyone have any idea to help me ?Thanks a lot !Have a good dayRegardsSimon#qt-creator #cr95hf.dll #cr95hf #rfid

Posted on February 23, 2017 at 11:49We are using the NFC03A1 board with Nucleo F103RB.In the function :int8_t PCD_ProtocolSelect(const uint8_t Length,const uint8_t Protocol,const uint8_t *Parameters,uint8_t *pResponse)There is a buffer DataToSend[SELECT_BUFFER_SIZE] where SELECT_BUFFER_SIZE  is 6.Then we fit the buffer with datas depending on the Lenght argument... until '3 + Length - 1'In the function : ISO14443A_ConfigFDTforAnticollision(), we can read :if( IcVers >= QJE)   NbParam = 6; else   NbParam = 4; status = PCD_ProtocolSelect((NbParam+1),PCD_PROTOCOL_ISO14443A,ProtocolSelectParameters,pDataRead);... and we got a buffer overflow!We solved the problem with :&sharpdefine SELECT_BUFFER_SIZE 10#nfc03a1

Posted on February 19, 2017 at 05:28first off, thank you for the online tool and the AN2866 whitepaper which is the clearest piece i read about the subject of nfc antenna design.my issue with the online tool is the output is only in the form of a flash object. to use it with my paper based nfc antennas i need to screen capture and do a bitmap tracing. it could be easier to export to an image or even better , to a vector format like SVG.but if thats not in the scope a quick solution is to have an option to remove the nice rendering of the antenna and replace with 2 color b/w impression. currently the drop shadows hurt my conversion.thanks again#nfc #antenna-design

Posted on February 02, 2017 at 16:26Dear all,I'm using a STM32 NUCLEO-L073 together with NUCLEO-NFC03A1.and we want to read and write data to the tag RF37S113 Tag-it from TI.This tag is compliance with ISO 15693.I can successfully detect the TAG, but that's all. I can't write data to the tag.I used the following seuqence:>>.. represents data to CR95HF in hexadecimal<<.. represents data from CR95HF in hexadecimalProtocolSelect   >> 02 02 0109   << 00 00ISO15693_init   >> 09 04  680101d1   << 00 00Inventory   >> 04 03  26 01 00   << 80 0d  00 00 7a 0f a1 66 e7 c0 07 e0  d389  00   According to chapter 4.1 of iso 15693-3 MSB is 'e0', everything seems correctWriting (01 02 03 04 into block 0) (UID is left, according to iso 15693 this is optional)   >> 04 07  02 21 00 01 02 03 04   << 80 05  01 03 04 24 00&n

Posted on February 14, 2017 at 00:23I am using the ST iso19653 and CR95HF software libraries in my application and by following the example set in the M24LRXX code I can make an inventory of a single tag. I want to be able to regonise more than 1 tag in the field and have tried using the 16slot inventory command but this returns with an error. As there are no worked examples for the detection of multiple tags I am not sure how to set up the mask length and mask parameters.

Posted on January 04, 2017 at 15:39Hi everyone,in our application I have to communicate with a M24SR02-Y over IIC.I have tried 2 versions to generate the CRC:Version 2#define PRESET_VALUE 0x6363#define MASK 0x8408#define NUMBER_OF_BYTES 6unsigned char array_of_databytes[6] = { 0x03, 0x00, 0xB0, 0x00, 0x00, 0x02 };void CRC() {    current_crc_value = PRESET_VALUE;    for (i = 0; i < NUMBER_OF_BYTES; i++)    {        DATA = array_of_databytes[i];        current_crc_value ^= (uint)DATA;        for (j = 0; j < 8; j++)  {            if ((current_crc_value & 0x0001) > 0)  {                current_crc_value >>= 1;                current_crc_value ^= MASK;   &n

Posted on January 03, 2017 at 17:53Hello,I have a CR95HF chip and I would like to set the TVDD power consumption to set a certain battery lifetime in my system. I used the excel tool to set a proper impedance and the formula to calculate current drained from VPS_TX. The problem is that they do not match.I measured the impedance of my own antenna with a miniVNA-pro net analyzer. I used the Excel tool to calculate L0, C0, C1 and C2 values for a 27ohm impedance and I assembled tem. The problem is the final measured impedance of the matching+antenna set was ~51ohm. Also, the current measured at VPS_TX was about 37mA, value that corresponds to a impedance of aprox 78ohm.Since anything is giving the values expected, what should I take as a valid result? How can I measure the final matching+antenna impedance?Thanks#antenna #current #impedance

Posted on January 04, 2017 at 10:39Hi,We have integrated NFC chip to the beagle bone custom board. We would like to know how to use interrupt  which when triggered by phone allows our application in linux to read from the chip.Appreciate if you can provide some sample code. It has to use I2C protocols.ThanksAswin

Posted on October 21, 2016 at 03:55Hi Sir / Madam,After ST95HF has read its peer NFC device, ST95HF RF field is automatically shut down.  I have to initialise it again using the following functions:        ISO14443A_Init( );         ISO14443A_IsPresent();         ISO14443A_Anticollision();May I know how can I prohibit this to happen.  Because when this happens, where the RF field provide by ST95HF is not stable, peer NFC device is unable to smoothly read by ST95HF.  May I know how can I make ST95HF RF field is constantly switch ON when even I have finished reading and writing to peer NFC RF interface ?Thank you for your advice.Please reply soon.Thank you.Cheers,KF #nfc-transceiver-ics---xx95hf #nfc #nfc-transceiver-ics---xx95hf

Posted on November 17, 2016 at 14:54Hello, I would like to design a system with a controlled consumption in the RF side of the CR95HF. I have read different application notes and made some calculations using your Excel matching file, but still have some doubts. 1. The current can be calculated as I_tx = (VPS_TX) / (Zout + Zmatching)? 2. The datasheet says its value is between 70mA and 100mA for 3V output voltage operation. It means an impedance between 30 and 42 ohms, but the recommended is 27. Where does this 100mA values come from? 3. What is the maximum current I can drive to the antenna? 4. Should I set the operating voltage (3V/5V) via register or it is automatically set with the voltage level at VPS_TX? Thank you #cr95hf

Posted on November 15, 2016 at 11:28Hello,I am writing this post because i have a problem with UART communication. I am using à microcontroller in order to communicate with the CR95HF chip but i can't have any response even when i'm sending an echo command. However, both pins SSI_0 and SSI_1 are connected to the ground and i'm pulling down the UART_RX/IRQ_IN more than 10us after i powered up the CR95HF chip as it's written in the datasheet.I figured out a problem, my UART_TX/IRQ_OUT pin is always at 0V, but even if i link a pull-up resistor, i still have no answers.Can anyone help me with my problem? i would really appreciate.Best regards

Posted on November 03, 2016 at 11:22Gentlemen!I try to use chip ST95HF. I am a beginner in NFC. I need to develop Peer to Peer connection. What protocol should I use for it?I can not see of the emitted field at 13,56 MHz.I initialized of the chip to work for IEC14443B protocol (I checked of the reply it was 0x0000). I used for test of the IDN command 0x000100 and received of the true reply - ''NFC FS2JAST4''.Then I try to send of the test sequence:0x00 0x06 0x64          0x35.0x35 (0x35 100 times).I did not receive of the true reply (0x0C 0x00 instead of 0x00 0x00) and I did not see any field (I use a good receiver and tested of the SF95HF output by scope).Could you help to understand of my error? #st95hf

Posted on October 05, 2016 at 12:54Hi Can someone advise me what the ERP (Radiated power) produced from the M24SR64 device through its antenna. I know it will be very low as it is a passive device but if ST or someone has some figures that would be great.ThanksAndrew #thanks

Posted on March 23, 2016 at 11:57I test with 24LR04e-discovery board..Use CR95HF demo board to set EH enable-03,and EH Config-F3. Put board near wire and the board can display message. But if I set F0 and mean max 7mA. It is very difficult to drive the board message display. I measure the VDD output and always about 0.5V. Why set max current higher not better ? How can i set to output more current to 7mA?  thanks #m24lr04e
