Posted on June 26, 2017 at 16:03Hey,I have a problem with the I2C1 on the STM32F746G-Discovery.I'm using the example-code for communication with DMA, but I changed the address mode from 10bit to 7bit.Now it's getting strange. The ST-Board is the master and a TCA6424A port expander is the slave. According to the datasheet the device address is 010 0010b (=22h; my ADDR pin is connected to GND).But if I use the function HAL_I2C_Master_Transmit_DMA() and watch the output with an oszilloscope, the device address changed from 22h to 11h (010 0010b -> 001 0001b). I don't know why, but the library adds an extra zero in front of the device address. I can workaround it, if I use 44h as an address (100 0100b). With 44h the output is 22h.Did I miss something or is there a bug in the code? How can I disable the additional zero in front of the device address?Kind regardsNyix

Posted on June 26, 2017 at 08:34Hello, I am developing an entertainment firmware for a custom board that mounts an STM32F469 microcontroller. This has 2Megs of FLASH and I would like to do something 'unusual' with the memory use. My idea comes from the old retro video games consoles. Many of them had an embedded firmware ROM inside, that was available for user programs in ROM cartridges or programs written with an embedded BASIC interpreter.I was wondering if it is possible to simulate a similar situation in the internal FLASH of the MCU I am using. Currently, I am using ATOLLIC TrueStudio. Let's look at, for example, a FLASH memory range of this type:FLASH memory space +---------------------------------------------------------+------------------------+---------+| User program                                &nbsp

Posted on June 26, 2017 at 15:25This is my first experience with USB as virtual keyboard.I have configured in CubeMX a Human Interface Device (HID). After that, to have someting written in my notepad I have written the following function:      uint8_t USB_TX_Buffer[8];      USB_TX_Buffer[0]= 'H';      USB_TX_Buffer[1]= 'e';      USB_TX_Buffer[2]= 'l';      USB_TX_Buffer[3]= 'l';      USB_TX_Buffer[4]= 'o';      USB_TX_Buffer[5]= '\0';      USBD_HID_SendReport(hUsbDeviceFS, USB_TX_Buffer, 6);      HAL_Delay(1000);But I obtain only the movement of the mouse! Can someone suggest me the right way?

Posted on June 25, 2017 at 14:00I am designing a PCB which uses the STM32F446 MCU. I have the first revision done and working. But I am wondering if all the pull-up and -down resistors on the board can be excluded and use the internals instead? The board has the following components connected with pull up/down:->Micro SD card in SPI mode->User button->UART connection with other boardWhen should you use external resistors and when can you rely on the internals?Thank you for any thoughts on the topic.#pull-up #pull-down #pcb-guidelines #pull-up-resistor

Posted on June 20, 2017 at 14:08Hi All,I am new to this domain. I am using STM32F103C8 controller and has some proprietary OS on it.My objective is:1. To understand aspects(Hardware, Software, Tools, Memory etc) to be considered to add new OS.2. To remove existing OS and port Free RTOS and board bring-up.3. Confirming all the required interfaces are up and running. Thanks in advance.Kedar

Posted on June 23, 2017 at 16:05Hello,I use the CPU STM32F765.I want to use DMA2 to transfer ADC-results into memory. This works fine if I use DTCM-Memory for the destination  (128kbyte  from 0x20000000 to 0x2001ffff)If I use SRAM1, DMA seems to work (I get transfer complete interrupt, ADC registers indicate that adc-values were read), but no data is in the programmed addresses. Is it possible that ADC to DMA transfer only works when DTCM memory is used  for the destination? Some time ago I maybe had a similar problem: I use Keil Middleware to implement a file system using an SD-card. It started to work after I told the middleware to use memory buffers at 0x20000000.In the reference manual I read about DMA that it can address the complete memory range. If it is required to specify DTCM memory for peripheral to memory transfers: where is this documented? If SRAM1 should also work: What could be the reason why DMA works with DTCM, but not with SRAM1?Thank you.

Posted on June 24, 2017 at 02:22 Hello, I think variation of this question has been asked a couple of time, but i'm trying to understand why what I am writing is not working. Because I want to get some experience with the HAL librairies I got myself a NucleoF446RE and an accessory shieldwith a P9813 LED Driver. I also found this code that I am modifying to use HAL: https://codebender.cc/library/ChainableLED#ChainableLED.cpp. I think my problems come from my micro seconds delay function. I used the Cube to generate the base code but here is what pertain to Timer3 : MX_TIM3_Init(); HAL_TIM_Base_Start(&htim3); static void MX_TIM3_Init(void) { TIM_ClockConfigTypeDef sClockSourceConfig; TIM_MasterConfigTypeDef sMasterConfig; htim3.Instance = TIM3; htim3.Init.Prescaler = 84; htim3.Init.CounterMode = TIM_COUNTERMODE_UP; htim3.Init.Period = 0xffff;//Full 16bit htim3.Init.ClockDivision = TIM_CLOCKDIVISION_DIV1; if (HAL_TIM_Base_Init(&htim3) != HAL_OK) { Error_Handl

Posted on June 24, 2017 at 12:51 I need to vary the frequency and duty cycle of a pwm using stm32f Inside the 'pulse finished' pwm callback i've tried the following code HAL_GPIO_WritePin(LED5_PORT, LED5_PIN, GPIO_PIN_RESET); //tentative 1 //TIM9->ARR = round(value); //TIM9->CCR1 = round(value) * 0.2; //tentative 2 //htim9.Instance->ARR = round(value); //htim9.Instance->CCR1 = round(value) * 0.2; //tentative 3 int *point = (int *) (TIM9_BASE + 0x2C); *point = round(value); int *point1 = (int *) (TIM9_BASE + 0x34); *point1 = round(value) *0.2; HAL_GPIO_WritePin(LED5_PORT, LED5_PIN, GPIO_PIN_SET); In all the 3 cases if i measure with an oscilloscope the amount of time that passes between the ON/OFF state of the LED5 the value is 6us. The ON/OFF state alone is 500ns. I get the Update event thing and it is not a problem but this means that i'm waiting 5.5us for my function to return just for assigning those two register and so i'm limited in term of performance. Posted on June 23, 2017 at 13:34Hello. I'm having problem with USART6 (again). So I'm testing now UART7. By checking documentation I have found that it is theoretically possible to set up uart7 on analog pins. I have made such conclusion after looking at p.21 of Discovery User Manual and by looking of p.76 of MCU User Manual:MCU PINDISCOVERY CONTACTPF10 : GPIO candidate (useful!)A1PF9 : UART7CTSA2PF8 : UART7RTSA3PF7 : UART7TXA4PF6 : UART7RXA5I'm confused because contacts A1-A5 are marked as analog and they are hooked to Alternative Functions related to Analog-to-Digital-Converter (in Discovery User Manual). (I'm new with electronics and I'm afraid to damage the Board)UART7 requires digital signals, I suppose. Is it OK to use these Discovery contacts for UART7?#stm32f746-discovery #uart #usart6

Posted on June 09, 2017 at 08:41Hi All,I am currently working on migrating a system from a EFM32 ARM Cortex-M3 to the STM32L476VGT ARM Cortex-M4. In the current hardware implementation, the processor is connected to asynchronous SRAM via an FPGA  that acts as an address latch (among other things). The following is an excerpt from the EBI (The external memory controller on the EFM32 Gecko chips) application notes explaining the workings of the current SRAM hardware connection.'The data bus width of the EFM32 EBI is 16 bits. When multiplexing the address and data bus, these 16 signal lines are first used for putting out the least significant 16 bits of the address, which are then held by the external address latch. Then these 16 signal lines are either used for 16 bits of data, or 8 bits of data and the remaining 8 bits of the address. See Figure 2.1 (p. 5) for an overview of the signals and address latch needed for multiplexed operation. The rest of the control signals are th

Posted on June 22, 2017 at 17:28Hello fellow Ethernet explorersI am currently trying to make a UDP connection between a stm32f4 discovery board and a pc.I have already made an example work and I am now trying to replicate the result but with a program made from scratch. When trying to build, the IDE tells me that the define ''MEMP_UDP_PCB'' is unknown. The error appears twice in the udp.c file.I have tried searching other reference in my project and have found none.Does anyone know what value should this be defined to? It's used in  udp_new() and udp_remove() functions more specifically it's used for: pcb = (struct udp_pcb*)memp_malloc(MEMP_UDP_PCB) and : memp_free(MEMP_UDP_PCB,pcb) Any help is much appreciated.-Andy#lwip #ethernet

Posted on June 21, 2017 at 12:47Hello, I'm working with a proprietary board using a stm32f107 and I would like to flash my soft into the ship by using RS232. To do that I have a RS232 connector which can be connected to USB and then I can collect Rx,Tx and GND from the DB9 connector. My trouble is when i'm trying to flash my soft with Flash Loader Demonstrator, I'm receiving this error : 'No response from the target, the Boot loader can not be started. Please, verify the boot mode configuration and the flash protection status, Reset your device then try again...'.I connected the Rx and Tx from the DB9 to the Tx and Rx of the stm32f107 (Rx->Tx, Tx->Rx), all my power supplies seems good and I did put the BOOT0 pin to GND to enter in the boot mode. I even try on an other board in case the first one was defective. Please does someone have an idea about how to solve the problem ? Did I missed a configuration ? It should be easy to flash a soft on this board, maybe I just mis

Posted on June 20, 2017 at 00:07 I've been working on a board based on the STM32F3 with a large number of ADCs and other peripherals. I'll also be using multiple I2C and UART peripherals; the responsiveness of I2C and UART is much higher than the ADCs so I have to reserve DMA usage for I2C and UART. Due to the above restriction, I planned to use the Single ADC Conversion interrupt to manually store the results of conversions. After implementing this I ran into an issue caused by HAL not respecting by choice of End of Conversion Selection: In my Initialization code, all four ADCs were configured with handle.Init.EOCSelection = ADC_EOC_SINGLE_CONV;? After running into issues I traced the source of the problem back to lines ~2074 of stm32f3xx_hal_adc_ex.c: They Are: /* Enable ADC end of conversion interrupt */ /* Enable ADC overrun interrupt */ switch(hadc->Init.EOCSelection) { case ADC_EOC_SEQ_CONV: __HAL_ADC_DISABLE_IT(hadc, ADC_IT_EOC); __HAL_ADC_ENABLE_IT(h

Posted on June 14, 2017 at 14:46 Hi, I'm evaluating some flash functionalities of the STM32F469NI. I have configured the Sector 12 of my STM32F469 Flash (2MB) with a Write-Protection. When I debug my Firmware I see that the corresponding bit gets set in the FLASH_OPTCR1 Register. I also run a test when I initialize my Flash Driver which only writes a word (32bit) into the beginning of Sector 12 (0x08100000). Now there should be an error in the SR of the Flash Module. But I don't see anything here. So I tried to rise an other error and wrote a half word into a word-configured Data Register. Now I got an Error. But why do I not get any error when writting into a Write-Protected area? Did I misconfigure something? I don't see anything else in the UserManual. Here is my code enReturn_t HAL_UserFlash::setWriteProtection(void) { enReturn_t errorCode = RET_ERROR; HAL_StatusTypeDef status = HAL_OK; //FLASH_OBProgramInitTypeDef flashInit; kprintf(0,'%s...\n',__FUNCTION__); /*Unlo

Posted on June 19, 2017 at 15:26On a STM32 F777 I am configuring TIM4 to read Hall sensors (HAL_TIMEx_HallSensor_Init).I have enabled capture interrupt and in capture callback  (which is triggered at every Hall event as expected) I am clearing UIF flag (i.e. timer overflow flag). The issue is that everytime the capture callback is triggered UIF flag is always found to be one even if I measure Hall events faster than timer overflow (which is expected every 32.7 ms). With reference to the attached figure: code never breaks in line 282.Any hint appreciated.#callback #tim #clear #uif

Posted on June 18, 2017 at 05:55Good day everyone,I'm pretty new to this.I found this MCU(http://www.mouser.co.za/ProductDetail/STMicroelectronics/STM32F765IGT6/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMs0L%252b%252bydDbPChkw%252bdkA4YC2L1vKV1WRTvavAPNGSsw2mw%3d%3d) and it would be perfect for my application, although the biggest stumbling block has been storage. I'd like to sample two signals at 1MSPS each, which it seems to be able to do. I just want to find out about storage, where are the samples stored for this MCU, through the DMA into RAM or flash? Finding an MCU with sufficient storage and write speeds has been impossible. ALso is there an evaluation board available for this MCU?  The length of data storage will be around 10 milliseconds and in the upper 200 Kb data rangeThanks in advance
