STM32CubeProg will not connect via USB to my target board

I downloaded the STM32CubeProg from the STM website. It appears to install a couple of USB drivers. However, it does not recognize my custom STM32F7 board that is in DFU mode. Per the User Guide I have uninstalled the DfuSe USB driver, but the

STM32CubeProg still cannot see my board. If I reboot my board, the DfusSe drivers are automatically re-installed by Windows. Am I doing something wrong?

No error message. The STM32CubeProg simply does not recognize the USB DFU device.

    as mentioned in this discussion
