Question

Link to deleted post

In Notifications, I have a link to a post, which - judging from the poster’s name (Lowtaperfades haircut) - was an attempt to spam and has gotten deleted.

There are two issues with this:

-- a removed post should perhaps be removed from my Notifications, too

-- more importantly, a post which was there and has been removed, should not lead to a generic “page not found”, but there should be a “we’ve removed this post” landing page for this particular case (it also perhaps shouldn’t be titled “Join the conversation”

Also, the widespread usage of the phrase “Something’s gone wrong” does not inspire confidence… :-)

Yes, it was - I reported 2 by that user.

I agree that the new forum handles this poorly:

Indeed.

And it is really unhelpful: giving absolutely no information whatsoever that could help to identify what had gone wrong - and, thus, how to deal with it.

Hi @waclawek.jan,
Thanks for your feedback.

I’m looking into the possibilities of adjusting the notification system to actively discard any deleted content.

Regarding the “page not found” feedback, we adjusted the text to clarify why the page can’t be found, and what the next best steps are. Note that the browser tab title still needs to be changed, which I have requested.

Your feedback on the updated text is highly appreciated.

Best regards,
Laurids

On the old forum, you didn’t just get a “page not found” error (which could be due to many reasons, as noted) - I think it said “permission denied”, or similar ?

When a post has been actively deleted (eg, Spam), it would be more helpful to get a specific error page - saying, “this post is no longer available” or suchlike.
