Trouble Installing STM32CubeMX 6.15.0 on Windows 11 (64bit)

Hello Forum,
I am trying to install STM32CubeMX version 6.15.0 on Windows 11 (64bit).  I want to install it for "all users".  I've downloaded and extracted the archive.  I can run the installer 'SetupSTM32CubeMX-6.15.0-Win.exe' with Admin privileges and it extracts and runs to the "Select Install Mode".  At this point if I choose "Install for all users" then the dialog just exits and nothing happens.  It works as expected with STM32CubeMX version 6.12.0

Does anyone have any ideas on what's going wrong? A big ask I know.  Can anyone suggest where to look for clues, are there any install logs that may give me a clue as to what's happening?

Here are the machine details:

  • Windows Type: Windows 11 Enterprise, Version 24H2, OSBuild 26100.4946
  • Processor: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1335U (1.30 GHz)
  • RAM: 64.0 GB (63.6 GB usable)
  • System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
  • Disk: 477GB free space on the SSD, C:\

Update: I've also tried this on a separate Windows 11 (64bit) machine and see the same issue.

Any help appreciated,

DD

Hello @DenzilDexter ,

I was not able to reproduce your behavior; I suggest that you try to install STM32CubeMX through the CMD.

This functionality is well mentioned on STM32CubeMX UM1718 section 3.2.2.

For more investigation, could you please provide the installation log.

Thanks.

Mahmoud

Windows version?

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.
A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.

While I don't use Cube ...

You will need to provide the Windows version you are running, and some more info about the host machine. Like, is it a x86 or ARM ?
Are you sure you have enough disk space ?
I'm pretty sure the installer produces some log files which could tell you more, perhaps just search for most recent files.

Thank you @Andrew Neil, I've updated the post with details.

Thanks @Ozone ,

Update 1: I've also tried 6.15.0 on a separate Windows 11 (64bit) machine and see the same issue.

Update 2: I've also tried 6.14.1 on a Windows 11 (64bit) machine and don't see the issue.

Which IMHO points to an issue with the installer.

The ST staff here should be able to point you to specific installation log files you could review.
In most cases, those logs reveal more details.
