The latest version of STM32CubeIDE for VSCode can have its performance affected by network conditions when working online. If the network is disconnected, the entire set of plugins may become unresponsive for a long time (ten or so minutes) before switching to offline mode. The whole plugin suite should be designed to primarily work offline, performing occasional network tasks in the background intermittently.

Thank you for sharing your feedback.
I completely agree; a 10-minute delay is obviously far too long.
I must confess that we have not yet invested much in the specific usage scenario you mentioned, so it’s understandable that your experience is suboptimal.
The 10-minute delay is definitely excessive. Have you had a chance to manage this notification during VS Code startup? I suspect this might be the cause of your delay. However, I want to be honest: even after addressing this, the experience won’t be perfect—only a partial improvement can be expected.
I appreciate your comments and are actively working to improve the overall experience. For now, please consider that this solution requires an active internet connection.
We also can acknowledge that the VS Code ecosystem promotes a connected environment (marketplace, continuous updates, Copilot assistance, etc.), but your valid use case cannot be ignored.
I will keep you updated on future progress. While we aim for an ultimate solution, we expect to deliver quick improvements over time.

Is there any timeline on when offline mode might become available?

There is no information to communicate at this time. It is unlikely that any updates will occur soon, and there will definitely be no changes in the next update.
This is a structural update that must be managed properly.
There are already improvements in the current code base. However, the topic has not been fully addressed. The team is still working to optimize based on the current foundation in the short term.
There are many competing priorities. The community is invited to vote for this item.
