Common causes for issues during the install and activation process, are network communication problems.
1. Checklist, in order of importance
- Antivirus silently blocking network connections
- Proxy with incorrect settings (try with no proxy first)
- VPN blocking network connections.
- Firewall blocking network connections (for example, windows defender)
- Wrong DNS settings
Try to double check the settings of the elements above, then temporarily deactivate them. If possible, manually add an exception to allow NanoEdge AI Studio to operate.
2. Proxy settings
If NanoEdge AI Studio loads infinitely on startup, check the environment variables:
- If present, the HTTPS_PROXY variable must point to a http:// address (not https://, despite the name)
- Try to add a new variable by clicking NEW (the bottom one). Its name should be NO_PROXY with the value 127.0.0.1
To access the environment variables, search for "environment variable" in the windows search bar and click on "environment variables".

5. Other solutions that you may try independently, after you have checked all the points above:
- Reboot your computer and try again.
- Switch your internet connection (change the network you connect to) and try again.
- Quit the Studio, delete the file "api_settings" in "Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\nanoedgeaistudio\" and relaunch the Studio.
- Check your log files (located in your NanoEdge AI workspace, "Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\workspaceNanoEdgeAi\logs\" by default) which may contain useful information about the issues encountered.
For persistent activation issues, (for example, when a valid NanoEdge AI license key fails to be recognized as valid despite all efforts) an offline activation may be required.
