STM32WB05xN to replace BlueNRG-LPS

We planed the BlueNRG-LPS in one of our projects to use it as a Network Co-Processor via the ACI command set and also have some code ready for that. Can we now just switch it against an STM32WB05xN and use the same commands, or is their command set different / even limited to HCI?

Hello Oliver,

STM32WB05 is rebranding of BlueNRG-LPS.
This are exacting same devices, meaning the FW you have developed for BlueNRG-LPS will run on your STM32WB05.

STM32WB0x series comes with a different ecosystem (SDK and tools) versus BlueNRG, here is the main difference (so only impacting if you start from scratch).

Ok, that sounds good. But actually we did not develop our own firmware for the BlueNRG-LPS but used the standard DTM ("direct test mode") fw with AHCI commands. Is this the FW the STM32WB05xN products ship with?

Hello,

STM32WB05N is delivered flash free and you should flash the binary inside it.
You are right at the end, this will be a DTM (in the new WB0 ecosystem, DTM is called transparent mode).
