Hello, I am new to the ST platform .I actually work with a nucleo144, and i was trying to work with bluetooth hc-06, the problem is that USART1 doesn't communicate with the board when I use HSE in the clock configuration , but it worked when I use HSI

Welcome, @AAAZO.1, to the community!

The HSE can only be used if:

  • either an external frequency is fed in (bypass mode)
  • or a crystal and the associated passive components (capacitors, depending on the board also 0-ohm resistors) are fitted.

Does it answer your question?

On a Nucleo board the HSE clock can come from the STLINK, if it is not populated with a crystal.

But you have to consult the schematics of the board, on some Nucleo there is a solder bridge to add for this functionality.
