1. From Entry-level to Expert mode
Till now, the described application are already-packed apps that can be simply downloaded on the Sensortile.box with just a click. Expert mode allows you to create your own application/algorithm by using Expert View in ST BLE Sensor application. We are at the intermediate step towards the Pro Mode use of the ST.box tool.
The developer uses a graphical app on his smartphone to:
- Define additional applications, like in lego bricks;
- Build his own application, without programming.
2. Why should I use the ST.box Expert mode
Why should one need something more, if a lot of everyday-life applications are already available by default as examples? Different reasons, indeed:
- Power optimization: Individual sensors can be activated or shut down to enable only the required sensor set
- Hard-iron compensation and offset cancelling: SensorTile.box can be individually calibrated after final assembly & positioning
- Pattern recognition, accuracy: Neural network and dedicated sensor fusion options can be activated
Expert mode allows user to create his own application / algorithm by using Expert View in ST BLE Sensor application (here you can find the app source code!).
Get an insight on all the available inputs and functions of the Expert mode below:
3. Expert mode application at work - the Free fall detection
Now it's time to create your own app in Expert View (Mode 2). This mode allows the creation of custom app by allowing the user to select one or more input source available. These functions can be configured and optimized for each use case.
In addition, the ST BLE Sensor App also allows you to define specific conditions and actions based on the different functions implemented within the algorithm. For example, when implementing a free-fall detection, the app can count the number of detected events
The mobile application will then plot and count the number of events detected and data logging can also be enabled in this mode for further data analysis.
And, finally, LED toggle upon the detection of that specific event.

Hi,
My mistake. Ignore my previous comment. I was confused about "Expert" versus "Pro".
Sorry,
