Question

ST tools/software for gang programming multiple STM32 devices simultaneously

Hello ST team,

I’m looking for information about ST tools/software for gang programming multiple STM32 devices simultaneously, particularly for production programming.

We are planning to program minimum 8 STM32 devices in parallel using 8 ST-LINK programmers. Could anyone suggest the recommended ST tool or production programming solution for this setup?

STM32 - like any other Cortex-M microcontroller - uses ARM’s standard SWD interface for programming.

So any programmer capable of programming Cortex-M microcontrollers should be usable.

ST don’t make one themselves, but there is this Partner:

You should speak to your manufacturing partner.

There are also places that will do programming for you; some distributors can do this.

Hello @marees_kritilabs, as Andrew explained, ST doesn’t provide production programming solutions.

We work as follows :

  • STM32CubeProgrammer for development and R&D activities
  • ST Partners for production programming

This is further detailed here : https://dev.st.com/stm32cube-docs/stm32cube-getting-started/1.1.2/en/markup/Ecosystem_Code_Programming/Ecosystem_Code_Programming.html

You can find ST Partners involved in programming activities here : https://www.st.com/content/st_com/en/partner/partner-program.html?country=country&key=programming#2

Among these partners and before reaching out to them, you first need to understand your programming needs, in addition to the 8 chips in parallel. For instance : do you need to program the chip before it is soldered onto your board, or after. Do you have any secure programming constraints or requirements ? Etc.

We are working on making all these questions easier to answer, this is an ongoing activity on st.com. We’ll communicate more once we have a first release on that.

Hope this helps,

Max
