When I try to generate user code through CubeMX 6.4.0, the program hangs. If I try to update user code from a demo project, the program doesn't hang. Why?

There is not enough detail in this question to provide an informed response. Probably one program has bugs while the other may not. Diff the source files.

The demo I am using is called "Six-Step Sensorless and Voltage Mode on a STEVAL-SPIN3204+Shinano LA052-800"

Could you please provide us with more details, does your code disappear when you regenerate your code, is that your issue?

Here are my issues:

1. When I create a new project and press "Generate", CubeMX gets stuck and does nothing.
2. When I try to open any of the demo projects and press "Update", CubeMX also gets stuck and does nothing

This is using ST Motor Control Workbench 5.Y.3 with CubeMX 6.4.0
