in stm32cubeide 1.6 and later, program was hanged up on 'HAL_InitTick' call when 'SysTick' not selected for 'Time Base Source' field, as recommended in FreeRTOS documentation.

sorry, this happened because 'BOOT0' was connected to 'VDD' for UDF functionality. This issue has not relation with software updates.
